David Mark, Tambuwal Lock Out of Office by Protesters In Abuja

Hundreds of protesters, who were wrongfully disengaged by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) stormed the National Assembly Complex, Abuja, in the early hours of Tuesday and grounded all activities, locking out the President of the Senate, David Mark, Speaker of the House of Reps, Aminu Tambuwal, other lawmakers, staff and visitors to the complex.

Olufamous.com gathered that the angry protesters who stormed the assembly complex with sleeping mats, beddings and their kids, vowed not to vacate the premises until their demands were met.

They are, among other issues, demanding that President Goodluck Jonathan sack the DG of the NIMC, Chris Onyenema over the sack of over 4,000 staff without following due process, their reinstatement or payment of their full benefits.

According to some of the protesters, the disengaged and aggrieved workers of the commission decided to storm the National Assembly complex by surprise as their earlier peaceful visits and petitions to the National Assembly on their plight had not yielded any fruitful result.

Many of the lawmakers later trek several kilometers to get to their offices as all vehicles had no access into the complex. Funny enough, when both chambers of the National Assembly later resumed plenary, they didn't make any reference to the plight of the protesting workers.

Men of the Nigeria Police force are keeping an eye on the protesters.
