#OgaAtTheTop Saga: @ChannelsTV Presenters Must Be Cautioned

Before I say what's on my mind, let me make it clear that a Blog is a platform for one to share his/her opinion on everyday issues. I say this because a few persons have called me to say things like 'Olu we expect you to be neutral', 'allow your readers to decide', etc. Please, a Blogger is free to share his/her opinion.

That said; lets move on to #OgaAtTheTop drama. Olu Famous supports the argument of Ruggedman. The trio of Chamberlain, Neota and Maupe displayed 'bias' during the interview with Mr Shem, as one of them was even 'smiling' as others ridicule him. Not cool! I think their #OgaAtTheTop should call them to order!

See what Ruggedman said about the Channels TV presenters' action below...

I can't place their motive, but it was obvious that they really wanted to "rubbish" Mr Shem. Sad!

  11. I do not think that the Channels TV presenters will prepare themselves to rubbish someone in public through an interviews. Let's be honest with ourselves, you or any other journalist would react with surprise and funny reactions when you ask someone a very simple question as 'What is the name of your president'? For Heaven's sake, the reporters never had such intention to do so, but it just a mere human reaction to a surprise response to a simple question given to someone in authority. Please, do not blame any news reporter. Mr Shem was even lucky that such an error wasn't made in the UK. It would have been worse. I mean worse. I do feel sorry for the way he's been ridicules @ d public but please do not blame Nigerians for finding @ lease something that'll give them a laff and breather in tough times like these.

    1. Hello Olu Famous . . . I don't agree with your point of view. Anon 19:39 nailed it! The presenters response was one of bewildment, shock even! If they were out to ridicule the man they would have told him there and then the website address was wrong because they had their ipads, but they choose to let it go. Think of it the way, the NSCDC man was invited for an interview to discuss online job racketeering in NSCDC, is that not enough pointer to the line of questions to expected? I believe the man was ill-prepared for the interview and also totally incompetent for the job. I am not basing my conclusion on the 1.09 clips of the goof, but on the entire interview. Do you know when we was told NSCDC apprehended 538 person for various criminal activities, he was surprised! The figure he had was just 2 arrest from lagos in the same period. If 538 persons are arrest nationwide for various offences certainly Lagos will account for just more than 2 of that figure. And its not once he mentioned "my oga at the top", in the course of the interview he had respond with "my ogas at Abuja" at a certain question.

  13. My 10 cents.. |• "My Oga At The Top" •|| Whilst so many have chosen to turn this to a joke, I think it should be an eye opener for us. Now, let's glean some lessons from this;

    1. Be very conversant with the happenings around you at all times. Ignorance can be deadly!

    2. Regardless of your qualification, strive to possess a Sound Interpersonal Communication Skill (IPC). This will prevent you from making incoherent presentations. He was unable to answer any question appropriately!

  15. Olu, your comment is classic display of the typical Nigerian mentality that got us this far backward. I know you are sufficiently well educated enough to appreciate the fact that The Sunrise interview on Channels TV is not designed to be a tea-party. It is designed for the serious minded who seek to be briefed and stay on the cutting-edge of current relevant happenings so they can make informed decisions. Those journalists did well in staying focused on that. You forget this is not NETWORK TALES ALWAYS (NTA)where a tv commercial would have shown up to cover up the crass display of incompetence. Good but sad to see this is how your mind works and it segments your blog appropriately. Do please keep expressing your mind!

  17. Lessons from. 'MY OGA AT THE TOP."

    For some days now, the media has been over flooded with the phrase: “my oga at the top”, which emanated from the live interview @channels_TV granted Mr. Shem Obafaiye, the Lagos State Commandant of the Nigeria Security & Civil Defence Corps. (NSCDC).

    Whilst so many have chosen to turn this to a joke, I think it should be an eye opener for us.

    Now, let’s glean some lessons from this;

    1. Be very conversant with the happenings around you at all times. Ignorance can be deadly!

    2. Regardless of your qualification, strive to possess a Sound Interpersonal Communication Skill (IPC). This will prevent you from making incoherent presentations. He was unable to answer any question appropriately!

    3. Regardless of the case, be calm, remain yourself. Don’t be too “Boss Conscious”. This was a challenge the man had. He wanted to please his Boss at all cost, hence, the phrase “My Oga at the top”. Refrain from worshipping people! ||« Respect all, fear none. Honor all, worship none! »||

    4. When asked a question and you don’t have an answer, please just open up by saying you don’t know. Better still, say you’ll get back to the person. This led the man to giving “ww.nscdc that’s all!” as the URL for his organization. Don’t EVER misinform people!

    5. In this jet age, it will be highly calamitous to get ready. Please DON’T GET READY, LIVE READY! The man obviously wasn’t expecting the questions asked.

    Bear in mind, that this same interview could have boosted Mr. Sham’s image if successful. ||« Sometimes, the path that leads to success may also lead to failure! »|| This is a lesson for us all

  19. No body is rubbishing any one. If a teacher cannot give a simple answer as 1 + 1, is it the student that will give the answer. This same man will interview qualified Nigerians and possible failed them for giving the right answer. NIGERIANS WAKE-UP. Kensport

  23. I just do not understand Nigerians at all, tell me why the journalists doing they job as they are expected and needful to do have done wrong?

    Why would a man who is holding the position of that magnitude not be able to hold his side at all. It shows that every position in Nigeria has many individuals who are not aware or have any knowledge of the position they are holding and they are just there becos someone want them to be there for their own selfish interest.

    The Journalist has the right to uncover all that is hidden from who soever they call for interview. If you can represent the people or office. The Bible say in 2 Timothy 2:15, "Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth".

    This man did not study to show himself approved a worked man at all. Why would you jump into the river when you know you can't swim and you are blaming others for your irresponsibilities...

    It is needful that what he was interviewed for be and when you go for an examination and questions are asked and you missfire, would blame the Teacher or the Lecturer for you not studying to pass?

    Jesus said, and am not against the man, that: when you want to build a house, would you not first sit down to count the cost? The job the man is doing requires that he give account and not another person.
