An Abuja court on Wednesday struck out a case of illegal arms importation filed against the co-owner of Amigo Supermarket, Mustapha Fawaz and three other Lebanese. The matter is becoming very complicated as is usually the case whenever Nigerian security agencies are prosecuting big men.
The men are also seeking an apology for their detention and asking for N50billion as damages...
Their bail application will be heard on June 21 in the fresh suit filed by the Lebanese at a Federal High Court in Abuja, seeking their release from detention.
.
However, Magistrate Muyiwa Oyeyipo of the Chief Magistrate Court in Karu, an Abuja suburb, stuck out the terrorism charges suit against them following an application by the prosecutor, Cliff Osagie.
Mustapha Fawaz, Talal Roda, Abdulla Tahini, and Kossay Nourdin were charged for terrorism and alleged importation of firearms.

At the resumed trial, the prosecutor, in his application to withdraw the charges, told the court that they have just discovered that the offences for which the three men were charged before the court are outside the jurisdiction of the court.
As usual, the SSS is now expected to start the process of filling fresh charges against the men before a High Court.

ReplyDeleteI never realized Jonathan is this totally incompetent. Any Nigerian with Primary 6 education will definitely perform better than this man called Jonathan. Haba, taking people that committed this kind of crime before one local magistrate. God why did you afflict us with this moron called Jonathan who cannot even do one thing right?
ReplyDeleteThese people should be fried and vaporized to serve as example for others like them. Can any Nigerian be suspected of crime like this in Iran and go scot free. No, one day you will just wake up to hear that the Nigerian has been hanged at dawn. So, why is Jonathan treating this terrorists with kid gloves. SSS should have a special dept to handle cases like this. Every day I cry for my country. People who don't know right from left deciding for millions of people. How did this Jonathan man even pass school cert? This is too much. Something need to happen as I just can't take this anymore. People just come to this country and do whatever they like without our government doing anything to stop these people. Countless of Nigerians have been killed through the activities of these people and our government is toying around with the prosecution of these criminals.
Wakkie.
you people should stop blaming Jonathan for every nigeria problem, afterall the judge was not jonathan. however you cant charge someone for terrorism just because he is in possession of firearms, if you are caught with bomb, gun, etc does not guaratee that you are a arm robber, terrorist, etc. therefore the SSS should have done there job right and charge them for the right thing and if there was no other evidence then you just have to charge them for the possession of arm
Deletealmond269 you definitely don't know what you writing about.
ReplyDeleteIs your incompetent Jonathan not in charge of the whole country?
Is he not the president?
Is he not the one sitting in ASO rock?
If yes to all the above , then he is responsible and accountable for running the government.
If he does not know this, please tell him and also please tell him to wake up. He has been sleeping on duty for too long.
Wakkie.
