When OluFamous.Com reported few weeks back that a shocker awaits President Goodluck Jonathan and the Bamanga Tukur-led PDP, many thought we were just talking. The event of last Saturday at Eagle Square has confirmed that the PDP's monopoly in Nigerian politics has come to an end.
The crisis rocking PDP reached its boiling point as former VP Atiku Abubakar, 8 governors and delegates from their respective states staged a walkout from the PDP for good.
They immediately converged at Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre and took decisions:
A new party was announced with former national secretary of PDP, Alhaji Kawu Baraje, Dr Sam Sam Jaja and Olagunsoye Oyinlola as Chairman, Deputy Chairman and National Secretary, respectively.
The eight governors who left with Atiku and others are:
Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers), Sule Lamido (Jigawa), Babangida Aliyu (Niger), Rabiu Kwankwaso (Kano), Abdulfatah Ahmed (Kwara), Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto), Muritala Nyako (Adamawa) and Usman Dakingari (Kebbi), the latest convert.
More PDP governors are said to be consulting to join the new group.
“Within the next two to three weeks, the PDP will discover that it is a party of Dr. Bamanga Tukur, Jonathan and Governor Akpabio,” an insider said.
Curiously, former president Olusegun Obasanjo and former military president, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida were absent at the PDP convention, indicating they may be in support of the new group.
OluFamous.Com gathered that those who dumped Jonathan and the PDP may join forces with the PDM and, later, the APC to create a more formidable force that will have more governors and lawmakers than the PDP even before the 2015 elections.
Some APC leaders have already congratulated the Amaechi and Atiku group for dumping the PDP. One of the first message came from Nuhu Ribadu:
Ribadu said the men have taken a bold step that is good for Nigeria's democracy as we move to 2015.

DeleteGood move. Amaechi should show Jonathan how to be a nationalist. Enough of PDP in Nigeria. Lets try another party

ReplyDeleteHon Tony, who told you that? Nigerians are wiser now.
ReplyDeleteThunder Strike your stinking mouth Dishonorable Tony
ReplyDeleteCan anybody please tell me the difference between these PDP & APC members? My candid opinion is that changing of names doesn't mean changing of characters as most of these APC members are from PDP, we have not had new political opposition in this country. The Lord saves my country from these ingrates
ReplyDeletewhat is your point? we should vote PDP again instead of trying a new party? abeg make we hear word jare, i'm sure you've never voted in your life.
DeleteThey haven't said thr mind yet so letsnot. Conclude
ReplyDeletemake we now do wetin?fold our hands and watch?
DeleteThey pdp and its presidential flag bearer has been an embarassment to the democracy of Nigeria, its has undermined our intergrity to institute a transparent and people choice government ,the split by these courageous individuals is a victory for our democracy and this development gives hope to nigerians for change that has been long desired.come 2015 I admonish Patriotic Nigerians to seek and crave for a blooming future for our dear country so our children would look back with a boastful admiration that we proved critics wrong, our future rests on our left thumb not in their money filled Ghana must go...
ReplyDeleteThis is just the begining. The more they pretend to be united the more divided they are, they pretend to be in control of situation unfortunately the situation has long taken control of them. Jonathan will lose 2015 election not because of opposition or even PDP crisis; he will lose because of his people (those who see red and call it green, those who see lion and calls it little rat that is harmless). Edwin Clark, Asari Dokubo, Akpabio & co take note. You still have the chance save your man.

hit's like most of pple ar still dont know wot is happening, Ribadu is talking fact and u dis Tony is still saying rubish, ar u d only 1 dat wil vote 4 Jonathan dat made u know dat he must win 2015 election? U must be a learner.
ReplyDeletePls,stop replying this tony,is an empty barrel that makes the loudest noise.the truth is obvious, simple arithmetic PDP is dividing,APC is multiplying,I believe tony constitute the people putting the youths at home saying they don't have money to end ASUU strike, yet they have money to spend on unnecessary convention or give large sum to nollywood who portray us to the whole world as fetish, whether tony is ready to dance azonto in 2015 or not time will tell.
ReplyDeleteSlumdog millionaire
we nw Practising democracy less see haw far it go wit PDP
ReplyDeleteWe are only hearing of transformation agenda, the main program is yet to commence after 2 years in office. GEJ, Nigerians are not fools!
ReplyDeleteGEJ is not in control. For them to walk out on him tells a lot. You don't tell a blind man the rain is falling. My advise to him is to use the next 2 years to do something meaningful. There are still some Judas who are waiting within the governors to plunge the final blow so he better just settle with his conscience and do what is right.
ReplyDeleteLagosian doesn't like jonathan and people in d north where bokoharam are kills everyday u expected them love jonathan when he has not done the neccessary thing to stop d killing? Jonathan Shuold be ready to lose 2015 election.
ReplyDeleteIt seems I will board an emergency flight to Abuja this evening to pay a condolence visit to 'uga' jonah at Aso-Rock.
ReplyDeleteGuy don,t be Fool they we put themselve together as soon as there interest is taken care of.They are all Selfish Businessman
ReplyDeletewhatever the case we will not vote pdp, that's all!
Deleteyes change is gud,i also need change, bt lets look at this critically, is forming another party the solution. look at the group of pple who are moving to the new party:the same Atiku, d same Amechi Baraje and those governors are all to be held responsible for the decay in nigeria and there various states, i can assure my brothers these same pple will in the nearest future (that is if they succed in "grabing" power in 2015)will only continue the decay that is already eating deep into our polity. these group of pple have no ideas no vision absolutely no good thing in stock for the masses. lets think Jonathan, yes he disappointed us, but the disappointments did not start with him. my point is this , as long as the pple are still there we will keep revolving around the same problems with no solution in sight. we shld dwel more on having changed individuals rather than just changing political parties. this to me is like NEPA to PHCN and yet the darkness is still on!
ReplyDeletepeople like you will never suggest a solution, all you do is whine and complain.
DeleteTony Tony na so craze dey start oooo please check in to Yaba left.....that's if you know what I mean...Happy Sunday and new month.
ReplyDeleteLet just wait and see the out come of this fraction...
