With the way President Goodluck Jonathan is going with his "secret" ambition for 2015, it appears divine and all other forms of intervention will be required to save Nigeria from crisis in the months and years ahead.
A lot of meanings have been read into the appointment of Maj-Gen. Kenneth Minimah as chief of army staff by President Jonathan ahead of 31 top generals who are his seniors in the Nigerian Army and are fit for the job. Sources say Maj-Gen Minimah was appointed because of his 'connection' with Patience Jonathan.
Since the announcement of what a top security person described as a wicked and selfish tsunami, uneasy calm has pervaded in most military formations.
Earlier this week, some Northern leaders at their meeting in Kaduna had revealed that President Jonathan is in the process of moving some military weapons from the North to the South(South) and with the new appoint of Maj-Gen Minimah, who is from Jonathan's wife axis in Rivers State, that may now be easy.

“The appointment of Minimah is an ill-wind that blows into the face of the military. We have been crying out that the agenda of Jonathan is to name his kinsman the chief of army staff right from his days in Lagos Command but they said we were alarmists; now the hen has come home to roost. There are so many officers who are superior to Minimah; now what becomes of them?" these are the words of a top Army officer who knows all that is going on.
Of the top 31 generals who are seniors to Mag-Gen Minimah, 15 would be retired soon while 16 may be left to work under him, if the National Assembly cannot summon the courage to reject his nomination.

What the OluFamous.Com team wants to know is if National Assembly will allow a sentimental appointment to stand, knowing it could spell doom in the face of obvious facts. Is this how we should run a country?
#NigeriansAreWatching!

Forget about national assembly, they won't do anything about it
ReplyDeleteIf Jonathan, anybody or group of persons are planning evil and destruction for Nigeria,GOD ALMIGHTY will bring them down surddenly in their numbers very soon in JESUS name.
ReplyDeleteIt is being reiterated over & over again that this man called Jonathan does not mean well for this country. In fact he is out to destroy Nigeria. Dailytrust newspapers reported this very incident by raising an alarm one year ago and some people who don't mean well for this country dismissed it as a mere claim. Today, it has come to pass. Appointing an army chief junior to thirty-one army Generals has a sinister motive which is 2015. What happens to these Generals? They will all be retired. Imagine the billions of naira the country spent in training these Generals. All these wasted in one breadth, just because of the interest of one man. Where is national interest? Jonathan has turned out to be a president that seem not to know or never heard anything about nationalism & patriotism in his life. He has also proven to be a clumsy and an especially not bright fellow with a gift for making the worst of any given situation. This man is so unclever that he does not not have the clout to rule this country. In fact, the greatest danger this country is facing presently is this man called Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. His selfishness & one-sidedness in running the affairs of government & govenance is guided by his pathological hatred fo other sections of Nigeria that he deems to be a cog in his wheel of progress in achieving his well-known sinister & evil ambition of an agenda to annihilate a section of this country. His hatred for any faith & tribe other than his own is manifest and is very clear to the rest of us Nigerians. Ironsi, Babangida, Abacha & Obasanjo, all of them rulers before you, tried to play experiments with Nigeria and failed. But GEJ, being a poor student of history is brainless & clueless to understand. You will also fail because Nigeria is bigger than you. But the man that is doomed for destruction does not heed advice. Time is a factor of history.
ReplyDeleteMr Olufamous, you failed to inform us how Gen. Minimah is related to the wife of the President. That information will add credibility to your GFNR you call an article. I was expecting you to say how many years military or public service experience you have on your shelf.
ReplyDeleteNational Assembly should reject that nomination. Simple! Nasir
ReplyDeleteWhy is this Ijaw man and his wife trying to bring politics into the military? Hope they can stand the consequences when jungle go matured....
ReplyDeleteBembela
The North has always done same. It is an issue now because of dirty politics by opposition. This platform is nothing but a tool by the opposition.
DeleteIs this the first time such is happening? People just make noise out of nothing just because they "must" find fault in everything this Government does. Look for positive things about the government and publish as well, then you may appear balanced and more credible.

DeleteIf true then it's wrong
ReplyDeleteJonathan is in-charge! He can sack and appoint anybody he likes. No shaking. Jones
ReplyDeleteSenate is a rubber stand. I wish the names were going to House of Reps then it would have been a different case
ReplyDeleteI don't really see anything wrong in it. Previous governments have done it. Its all a matter of loyalty. Situations are tensed now the guy has to protect his back against dissidents. If na you nko? The north would have done the same.
ReplyDeleteJonathan is also planning to make an Ijaw man the IG of Police soon. A new DIG Michael Zuokumor has grown from Deputy Commissioner of Police to DIG within just 5years in Abuja. Nigerians watch out o
ReplyDeleteGood for Nigerians that voted for him.Jonathan has destroyed the armed forces. It will take another 30 years to repair if Niveria remains together. However this is the end. How can you jump 31 generals ?This man Nigeria means Ijaw
ReplyDelete.Check all appointments in Nigeria they are 80 percent ijaw. What he does not understand is that when there is katakata the small soldiers will not litsen to the chief of army staff.Zuokumor is the next IG.Well, you can't blame the man.The only way he can win next year is by force.
If the North is frightened that some military weapons are abt 2 be moved 2 the South, why r they not panicked that these weapons r in the North all these while? I have said it again and again let these ppl go back from where they came from! Just look@ Kano Governor biulding over 1billion Naira school for women in Niger Republic......these ppl are suckers I tell u. Look, the hausas have be ruling Nigeria 4 over 48 yrs and look how they left their states reeking in poverty. Look how they left the whole of Nigeria in one huge mess . These ppl do not have the intellect 2 run a sophisticated country like Nigeria. Obasanjo committed worse attrocities in his 12 yrs of ruling Nigeira so those who r accusing Jonathan can go to hell. Look @ ordinary electricity Obasanja promised on his innauguration in in 1999, that there will be regular , unitterupted electricty 4 al Nigerians?? He spent 6 Billion U S Dollars and nothing happened!! The only leader I will respect is anyone who can point at something he has done to raise d living standard of Nigerians. 78 per cent of Nigerians yrly budget is spent on paying fat salaries(Reccurent expenses) Nothing is left for investment..u see why millions of Nigerians r poor?? And u ppl r here talking abt Gay bill.....
ReplyDeleteGo down history, you would find out that its not just happening. Seen severally how junior Northan officers were promoted far above their superiors. It was alright then. Noise!
ReplyDeleteAll i kno God has the final saying, if God says none of them ll se the 2015 no one can question God. Their lifes in God hand if He like He ll rediws it to have corent as PHCN they do wit our light, if Him com like He ll take d life conplitly. God Punish anybody or group of pple planing evil agast d mercies. (AMEN)
ReplyDeleteI love wat he is doing, all the passd leaders has done woster than wat ever u people the enemie of Nigerians think he is doing, every other person in power, base on wat is happening now will do the same, so u people should stop spoilling the name of the only kind and gentle president we have ever achief because of ur greeds.
ReplyDeletewho is patience jonathan?
ReplyDeletethis is a sound warning for Ameachi that he should be ready to pack his bags and run away and hide his face. If Minimah finally becomes the Army chief, Taskforce will be under his command and that means Police and Taskforces and even the SSS will now be used to collect Rivers from his grip. Insted of dis domination, I prefer a peaceful disintergration.
ReplyDeleteLet the weapons return to d south Απϑ let the ijaws become generals let us see ΨђåƮ the boko harams will use to kill us all. U people should understand that this man seriously meant well for this country. So any opposition should go Απϑ drown.
ReplyDeleteMtscheeeew..
ReplyDeleteAbegi make we hear word.....connection or no connection...minimah is the COAS....even if he gave a northerner the post....people will still say dat he is looking for favour.......so u guys should let him be joor.....
So seniors will hence forth take directives /order from their junior ranking officer..NA WA FOR this Nigerian politics
ReplyDeleteOlufamous stop misinforming nigerians. Gen Minimah has no relationship with the first lady apart from the fact that he is from rivers state and talking about appointing him ahead of his seniors is not a new phenomenon because no law says the chief of army staff must be the most senior serving officer. It has always been the tradition that when a new COAS is appointed, his seniors are retired or seconded to the defence headquarter. In as much as you are trying to do the bidding of your paymasters i expect you to be fair in your reporting Check the records of the appointment of the past COAS and you will see that it has never been the most senior officer in most cases.
ReplyDeleteYou have not told us how General Minimah is related to Patience Jonathan.
ReplyDeletePatience Jonathan is from Okrika while General Minimah is from Bonny.
Please tell us how they are related.
