Put All General Overseers In Prison and Nigeria Will Change -Pastor Bakare

In his usual style, Pastor Tunde Bakare of the Latter Rain Assembly has challenged his fellow religious leaders to reflect on what is going on in Nigeria and feel the pains of the masses.

"All General overseers and religious leaders must go to prison, so they can feel the Nigerian situation. Lock Pastor Adeboye, Pastor Kumuyi, myself and others up in a Nigerian prison, may be if we come out we will change and put the interest of our people first.

"Preaching greed is sin, we have the confidence of millions of people and continue to fail them, that must change," the Pastor said.

Is this ever possible and will it really change anything?

  7. when you want to change a person help him or her change their mind and feelings permanently and things would change but if someone changes only his or her behaviour, the chsnge is only temporary and may not last.Prison would not change a man or woman except they permit it to change them, punishment will never purge anyone except they see it work.I don't think sending overseers to prison will change Nigeria.it is the change in the minds, and psyche of the people over time that would change Nigeria especially the leaders and potential leaders.

  8. Pastor it shall be well with you cos Nigerian pastors today is focusing on their pocket and how to use 8 billion naira to buy new model of private jets while people are in the hospital dying for common ten thousand naira No one agreed to donated before their treatment could commence by the doctor. What a shame to our country ! pastors are not using their money for charity and they don't even care about the well being of their members. What a shame ! God said we should love our neighbour as we love ourselves but now pastors love their money more than themselves not to talk about loving members in the church! thus they will never love someone and see the person hungry and still have the mind of using 8 billion naira to buy one private jet. Pastor bakare why i like you is that you are always saying the truth and God will bless you for that.Pls bakare speak more i always enjoy you. talk to them cos we need a change in our country from our churches first

  11. In add to your suggestion, a penalty and capital punishment for such scandalous leaders/cleric should be the remedy. Imagine a private jet for what purpose and mission, while millions are sleeping in hunger and squalor........Al-Amin

  12. It is surprising that churches is everywhere, yet evil has increased in nigeria. Are nigeians prophets mmaking the same mistake the europians made in their time, instead of laying in the foundation Jesus has put down they were busy laying theirs by; participating in slave trade, involving in politis , colonia era and so on. At now their church building are now like a museums and empty buildings. I hope nigerians pastor are taking the call by Godd to serve His people to be a change of occupation. When God call His prophet in the biblical time, many ran or give excuses because of the Holines of the call people like MOSES Elijah and so on. And when Jesus was on earth in human form, those that were attracted to Him were the poor, prostitute, tax collector the sick and so on. But today it is the rich ones that occupy the highes place in the church and are more respected. When church memeber sit today is like board memeber of company siting. During the Biblical time Jesus took the donkey, and apostle paul had a ship reck they never belong to them.
In JEREMIAH 23,1, 21 to 28 Weo be unto the pastors thast destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the Lord. 21 I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied. 22 But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from thier evil way, and from the evilof their doings. 23 Am i a God at hand, saith the Lord , and not a God afar off? 24 Can any hide himself in secreet places that i shall not see him? saith the Lord. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the Lord.25 I have heard what the prophets said, that prophesy lies in my name, saying I have dreamed, i have dreamed.26 How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea, they are prophets of the deceit of theirown heart. 27 W hich think to cause my people to forget my name byx their dreamings which they tellevery man to his neigbour, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Ba al now ( prosperity, and kingdom of earth than kingdom of heaven) 28 The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream( that interested on prosperity, richenes of wealth on earth); and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully, What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD.

  16. Some of you are speaking humanly. Jesus Christ said "You do err not knowing the scripture nor the power thereof". What is happening now is the fullfilment of the scripture. Bible says that in the last days that false prophets shall rise.

And moreover, most of these false prophets are driven into the practices by the members of the church. The scripture says "they shall gather to themselves teachers who will teach them what their itching ears desire to hear". So, why are you blaming the overseers alone leaving yourselves behind. Remove the log in your eyes before you talk about that of others.

That the overseers be sent to prison is baseless because, Nigeria is not a christian nation. So why will you be shifting the blame on the christian alone. I know some overseers who use their god given wealth to assist the less previlaged. That you do not assist, does not mean that others are not.

Pls, let us reason well before we air views. The problem of Nigeria is foundational one. The scripture says "if the foundation of the righteous is destroyed what shall the righteous do?". The only solution is for the righteous to go back to God like "Jacob" did. When the foundation of Jacob was characterised with lies, cheating, and all manner of evil; Jacob decided to go back to God for a renewal of his foundation, which God did by changing his name from Jacob (deceiver, cheat etc) to Israel (blessing).

Nigerians need to go back to God, if in deed we really need a renewal of our foundation. And let us stop pointing accusing finger to innocent people.

Nigerians, pls, return to God with all your mind, might, strength, body, spirit and soul, and God will change our names from cheat, killer, adulter, etc to blessing. NJC.
