Olisa Adibua Faces Suspension Over Misconduct

Information remain sketchy at the moment but I can confirm to you that popular On-Air-Personality, Olisa Adibua, did not anchor The Morning Rush show on Friday in Lagos and this is not unconnected with the fight he had with a junior colleague at Beat FM/Naija FM in the night of Thursday 8th September, 2011. 

I gathered through a report monitored on N.E.T. that the said junior colleague's name is Adewunmi Oyekanmi, a night editor at Naija FM. All I can make out of the story right now is that Olisa Adibua pounced on him because he (Adewunmi) was sleeping on duty. But he took it too far by using foreign objects to cause damage on the young man's body. 

The management has already suspended Mr. Adibua and has given Adewunmi about N15,000 to treat himself... Some are calling for the outright dismissal of Mr. Adibua for his 'inhuman' action.  He's yet to make any statement on the issue.

Nigerian Customs Suspends 14 Officers

Following their involvement in the fraudulent release of vehicles and other goods in Tincan Island and Apapa Ports in Lagos, 14 officers of the Nigeria Customs Service has been suspended, and their salaries stopped.

The Comptroller-General of Customs, Dikko Abdullahi, who gave out this information on Friday in Abuja, added that: “At this stage of our efforts to transform the Service, we cannot afford to tolerate illegal conduct of the nature exhibited by those officers. I am disappointed that despite our efforts to turn-around the Service, some senior Officers are still found wanting”.

10 of the affected officers are of the ranks of Deputy Comptrollers and Assistant Controllers, while the rest are in the Inspector Cadres.

Popular Hollywood actor and lead act in the multiple award-winning movie, 24, Keifer Sutherland (a.k.a Jack Bauer) is here captured in two different seasons of his life. The first was his early days in the movie industry, sometime around mid-eighties. The second is his older look, sometime in 2006 when he received several awards for his lead role in 24.

Here's what 'Jack' told a journalist about what goes on in the movie industry: "The kind of money generated around the industry is way out of proportion. The admiration bestowed on actors is also out of perspective."

I can't agree less with him; considering the millions of dollars you hear some Hollywood movies make in just one or two weeks of hitting the Cinemas... Anyways, the guy has always been a fine boy, just like me. Damn it!

Sharia Court Orders Amputation of Two Nigerians

A Sharia Court sitting in Nassarawan village in Zamfara State has ordered the amputation of the wrists of two men - Auwalu Abubaka (23), and Lawalli Musa (22) - for stealing a bull, worth about N130,000.

Justice Muhammadu Abubakar, while delivering his ruling on Thursday, said: “Based on the admission of guilt by the two of you of trespassing into the house and stealing a bull whose worth is well above the minimum value to warrant amputation; I hereby order that each of you should have his right wrist amputated. I hereby order that the sentence be carried out on October 8, on market day for members of the public to witness.”

The judge, however, gave the two men 30 days to appeal their sentences... In case you don't know, this is not the first time this king of treatment will be meted out to convicts in the predominantly Muslim northern part of Nigeria.

Broadway Marks 9/11 Anniversary in Style

Broadway performers sing "New York, New York" to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the infamous September 11, 2001, attacks on the world trade centre on Friday September 9, 2011, at the Duffy Square in New York. 

The mini-concert was a replay of what the Broadway community sang 10 years ago to promote theater in New York City following 9/11... I will bring more pictures from the official commemoration.
