Jonathan Restructures Security Infrastructure

This is part of proactive steps we are taking as part of a review of our national security architecture to lay greater emphasis on intelligence and citizens' participation in security surveillance. Terrorism has no conscience and spares no one. We must stand together against terror in its destructive manifestations". 

- The above quote is the President Goodluck Jonathan's latest facebook post, enumerating his efforts in tackling the problem of terrorism militating against the country... Well, lets hope there're more measures and tactics to come from his security handlers because this alone cannot help us to cross the Red Sea.

Lagos State to Demolish Over 300 Houses

"We are going to demolish Odejobi street because they live on the canal and we don't want the reoccurrence of such calamity.  Where they erected their structures are illegal, we have warned them about two year ago and they refused to heed our warnings, now their safety is paramount to this state government," these were the words of the general manager of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, while addressing a press conference in Alausa, Ikeja, on Wednesday. 

The Economist Magazine recently disclosed that it is risky living in Lagos, hence these people should not wait to be told before they evacuate themselves to a more safer terrain. A word is enough for the wise.

The president’s agenda is transformation. The ultimate measure of achievement, therefore, is the extent to which the socio-economic conditions of the people are transformed as result of the above stated “achievements” and others embodied the presidency’s statement.  

Now the culture of marking 100 days in office is essentially about remarkable performance. Only the significant performance should be showcased. It is not about recording routines of governance.  

In the Nigerian context today, the least that should be expected of Jonathan is to set the tone of his administration. The direction of the four-year journey should be clear by now. It is not unduly expected for too much to insist that after 100 days the public is entitled to know the strategy of the government. This should be articulated efficiently....

Facebook Profits Double in 2011

The revenue of the world's number social networking site, facebook, doubled to $1.6 billion in the first half of 2011, an indication that the site remains the peoples' choice due to its consistency and innovations. This revelation was made by an insider source who craved anonymity because the company does not disclose its financial records as a private entity. 

In a bid to have a piece of the action, arch rival and search engine leader, Google, launched its own a social networking site - Google+ - in June and it attracted more than 10 million users in its first two weeks. It is also believed that Yahoo is doing something in that light also, especially with the sacking of its CEO on Tuesday. 

Whatever the case maybe, facebook still rules the social networking world, at least till this afternoon and, no doubt, it would remain that way for a long, long time... Facebook rocks!

Ofunneka of Big Brother Africa Becomes a Mom

You all remember the Nigerian babe whose exploits in the 2007 edition of the widely followed but highly criticised reality TV show, Big Brother Africa, attracted a lot of condemnations. Yes, am talking of none other than beautiful Ofunneka Amanda, who got married to an Australian-based Nigerian Professor, Chika Anyanwu, in 2010. 

I heard the beautiful bride gave birth to a bouncing baby girl two weeks ago in far away Australia. Both she and the baby girl are said to be in good condition and the child has been named Ngozi Onyekachi Anyanwu... Congrats to the Anyawus for this bundle of joy.
