Court Remands James Ibori in Prison Till 2012

These are certainly not the best of times for former executive governor of Delta State, James Onanefe Ibori, as a London court today (Tuesday) remanded him in prison custody until February 13, 2012, when his trial will commence.

I gathered that his legal team intends to get the case quashed in the resumed hearing next year, on the grounds that he has been cleared before by a court in Nigeria. But this may be a difficult path because, according to a source, the case file against him is somewhat water-tight and it would take a lot of legal fireworks to defeat same.

It would be recalled that James Ibori, who was extradited to the UK from Dubai in April, is facing a 14-count charge of fraud and money laundering.

Most Nigerians, especially the over 70 percent that are struggling day and night to make ends meet in the midst of abundant crude oil money, will not be happy with Senate President David Mark if this report turns out to have any semblance of truth in it. She is said to be very close to senate president, David Mark. It couldn’t be confirmed if what they share was a romantic affair but they are very close friends.

Sources close to the actress revealed to us that the senate president recently bought her a Range Rover Sport worth N15 million. She also recently opened a fashion accessory boutique which has also been linked to the support from the third citizen of the country... Well, in my ‘Never say Never’ attitude, yours truly will wait for an official reaction from either party before I say anything on this matter.

Cossy In The News for Another Wrong Reason

Big breasted Nollywood actress turned singer, Cossy Orjiakor, is in the news again for yet another negative reason. If you are aware that the babe was widely reported to have broken up with her boyfriend last month, then you’ll understand what she’s up to with her latest antics.

Cossy seems to be feeling the gap left in the aftermath of the break up with her bobo, despite trying to keep herself busy with the promotion of her new song - My Body. Confirming rumours that she’s feeling the vacuum, Cossy took to twitter to bear her mind. She tweeted: “I have been single for a month now and I want to get down, but I am very scared, I don’t want to be caught on tape, pant’s down”. To make matters worse, she gave a nasty description of herself to interested guys thus: “I am like a whore in bed, a diva on TV, a chic on the streets, because I am not afraid to stand out alone, that makes me thick”.

Her critics have questioned why she has to expose such private issues about herself to the public through an open platform like twitter... But given her antecedents, I don’t think anyone should be surprised.

Although it’s a little difficult for some to believe, but I can tell you that Nigeria’s music icon, Tuface Idibia, turned 36 last week. The father of three had a first-hand experience of the goodwill he enjoys in the industry as all categories of celebrities turned out to celebrate with him at the weekend.

From Timaya to P-Square, D-banj to Ikechukwu, the venue of his birthday bash was filled to capacity, even as guest were treated to assorted drinks all night long... Happy Birthday to you - 2Baba!

NFL Star Goes Bankrupt, Now Lives With Parents

American National Football League (NFL) side Baltimore Ravens’s ex-player, Chris McAlister, who signed a contract for a whopping $55million in 2004, has revealed he’s now flat broke and living in his parents’ home. After 13 months of marriage he had a child but can no longer pay for the child’s monthly support, after he separated from his wife for her refusal to “get an abortion”.

Chris was a first round draft pick back in 1999 and was a critical member of the Ravens team back in 2000 when they won the Super Bowl. He played in the NFL for 10 years. In a recent interview, according to TMZ, he said: “I live in my parent’s home [now]. My parents provide me with my basic living expenses as I do not have the funds to do so”.

This is just another unfortunate case of a black-American who make so much money early in life but wasted everything with a “frivolous lifestyle”. Hope someone would learn from his bitter lesson.

Comedian Teju BabyFace Steps Up...

Of course, just like Naeto C has said, things are not the same any more! And one guy who fits perfectly into the chorus of that song is non other than the one and only fine boy comedian of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Teju BabayFace. I hear the bobo has just launched a brand new, spanking, tear-rubber, Range Rover Sport car.

Before now the car used to be an exclusive preserve of top musicians and other entertainment moguls, but things have since changed. The likes of Tonto Dike, Chika Ike, Mike Eruronye, etc., are all proud owners of the wonder on wheels. So tell me why our own Teju should not be in that class? The guy has paid his dues; in fact he has over paid sef.
