Like a Comet with the potential of causing a huge stir in the already saturated Naija music atmosphere, IshauYau (a.k.a "D Son of D Elders") is steadily warming himself into the hearts of music lovers in the entire country.
Born Ishau Ayinla Yakub, this native of Ile-Ife in Osun State, two weeks ago, sent me the link to some of his tracks and requested I listen to them. I was less busy during the week, so I checked them out. Was I impressed with what I heard? My answer is definitely in the affirmative. His ability to fuse traditional poetical rhymes with contemporary hip-hop vibes is something you can’t ignore.
I listened to a Tribute song he did in honour of late rap artiste, DaGrin, and it was off the hook. My experience with his materials brought me to one conclusion: IshauYau is a good artiste, strong enough to secure a place in the big league. Any business-minded promoter/manager should key into this young man’s talent because he could possibly surpass the adventures of people like Timaya, MI, 9ice, Jawon, etc.
FEW OF HIS CREDITS:
He has performed live at various shows, including a gig at The Knott Centre in Lagos on 27th May. He mounted the stage during the Nigeria Runway Show on 12th September, where the likes of Tuface Idibia, Mallam Spicy, Black Solo, Slim Joe, Basket Mouth and a host of other notable artiste also performed. He worked with eminent producers like Drumphaze, Jyodee, Ddream and Olu-Jerry, among others.
