The Nigeria Police have arrested and charged the landlord of No. 7 Michael Adeboye Street, Idimu, Mr. Nuru Rasaki, before an Ejigbo Magistrate Court for ‘seriously’ beating his tenant’s wife, Mrs. Biola Ajani, after she allegedly denied him sex on Christmas Day.
The assaulted woman told the court that Mr. Rasaki claimed that he has right over everything in his compound, including his tenants and their wives and could do anything he wanted any time. It was on this premise that the landlord has been ‘disturbing’ the married woman for sex.
According to investigation, Mr. Rasaki sneaked into Mrs. Ajani’s house when her husband was not around and attempted to have sex with her by force; during which he was said to have unleashed several blows on her and even tore her clothes. The woman stood her ground and raised an alarm that attracted neighbours who stopped the landlord.
During cross examination, Mrs. Ajani said the landlord has been pestering her for sex since they packed into his compound and that when his pressure became unbearable, she told her husband, Mr. Musbili Ajani, what was happening. She said her husband pleaded with her to be patient for them to get another accommodation before this incident happened.
Mr. Ajani confirmed what his wife said, adding that he did not want to take laws into his hands and that was why he reported the matter to the police.
On his part, the landlord, Mr. Rasaki, denied that he attempted to forcely sleep with her or even assaulted her. But funny enough, he could not explain how the woman sustained injury on her eyes and what he was doing in her apartmet when her husband was not around. He claimed that he assisted the woman and her family in the past, adding that she was ungrateful and wanted to pay his good deeds towards her with bad.
Mr. Rasaki pleaded not guilty to the charges that were read to him. The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M. B. Folami, granted him bail in the sum of N20,000 with two sureties in like sum. The matter was adjourned for hearing.
