ABSU Students Protest Against Gang Rape Scandal

Displaying placards with inscriptions like: “we are not guilty of rape, give us a fair hearing, spread the truth not lies, we are God’s own university, do not spoil the integrity of ABSU, we are innocent”, students of Abia State University (ABSU) on Thursday marched through the Senate building to protested accusation that the rape video circulating on social network platforms happened in their school.

The protesters, who were received by the Dean of Student's Affairs, argued that neither the victim nor the rapists are students of the institution. Some of the students supported their claims with what they described as 'the victim's utterances during the act'.

The Students Union President of ABSU, Christian Afulike, told journalists that the demonstration became necessary to inform the world of their innocence as these malicious accusations are damaging to the integrity of the students and the institution.

Police Arrests 81-Year Old Grandmama for Selling Drugs

Mama Ola Mae Robinson may look like someone whose food you'll love to taste, thinking that it will come with the natural taste of your village kitchen. But according to police, any food you eat in her house might give you more than you bargained for.

After thorough investigation, she was arrested for the second time this year (the first was in June) on drug charges, including selling hard core substances to "young folks". The police in Alabama made the arrest after executing a search warrant on her home. Police Chief, Jimmie Gardner, said: ”Our young folks and others are being harmed by her activities. If you are selling it to them, you are just another criminal, regardless of your age.”

The police boss further disclosed that there has been series of drug-related problems in the community and they noticed a substantial amount of traffic coming out of her house. "It looks like everybody loved hanging out with grandma Ola, and now we know why," he added.
