At the end of the day, President Goodluck Jonathan had his way. Bamanga Tukur finally emerged the National Chairman of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party by consensus.

This follows the withdrawal of his opponents from the race, ahead of the PDP national convention at the Eagle Square, Abuja on Saturday. Tukur’s 10 rivals pulled out after "wide consultation".

Senator's Wife Kidnapped By Gunmen

A gang of armed men have abducted the wife of a serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria representing Rivers East Senatorial District, George Sekibo.

The victim, Mrs. Asime Sekibo, was said to have been kidnapped by the gunmen at about 6.30 pm near Obiri Ikwerre on East-West Road in Port Harcourt.

RIP: Female Students Die Inside Collapsed Well In Edo

It was a tragic Friday for the students of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma in Edo State as two female students of the institution lost their lives when a well in their hostel caved in.

It was gathered that the victims were immediately rescued and rushed to Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, where two of the students were certified dead.
