Actress Uche Jumbo Battles Abortion Scandal

Followers of events in the Nigeria entertainment industry and especially those who saw the smiles on her face during the premier of her latest movie - Damage - in different locations across Nigeria would have thought that beautiful Nollywood actress, Uche Jumbo, had put behind her the battle to get her pound of flesh from a media outfit that published a story alleging that she aborted a six-month old pregnancy.

But I can tell you that the babe is still taking the matter seriously as thou it happened just yesterday. In a recent interview, Uche revealed that the “libellous” story has made her shed tears and as such “It will only take God for me to see the person (who wrote that story) and not harm him”. She said the issue caused her a lot of emotional pains such that “I still curse the person till tomorrow”.

Confirming that the matter is in court and that she intends to follow it through, Uche described it as her biggest scandal ever, adding that “It was really damaging and I won’t stop fighting till I get justice”... So far, opinions are divided on whether she should drop the matter or not. For holding on with the case, another report at the weekend described her as “an Avenging Angel on a deadly mission”. What do you think?

'Best Kiss Award' Comes To Nollywood

We have decided to add some sparks of excitement to the event this year by introducing the best kiss in a Nigerian movie category. The category has some strong contenders which include: Uche Jombo and Kalu Ikeagwu [Damage], Odunade Adekola and Toks Oke [Booku], Tonto Dike and Muna Obiekwe [Dirty Secrets], and Majid Michel and Genevieve Nnaji [Bursting Out]”.

Those were the words of Funmi Adeyina, brand manager of Best of Nollywood Awards, while introducing the latest category that actors and actresses will contend for in this year’s BON Awards. She described the Awards as a deliberate effort to elevate standards, excellence and hard work in Nollywood.

About 190 movies were submitted for this year’s edition, 28 categories of awards are up for grabs. The event will be hosted by comedian Tee A and actress Ini Edo.

Undergraduate's Gang Rapists Will Be Prosecuted

Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the minister of youth development, has condemned the action of a five-man gang who took turn in raping an undergraduate of the Abia State University and even went ahead to record the despicable act. In a statement signed by his special adviser on media maters, the minister calls for the appropriate authority to step in and arrest the rapists, while promising to rehabilitate the victim.

Also through his Twitter account, the minister disclosed that he is working with relevant authorities to bring the culprit to book. “I Just spoke with the Hon. Minister of Police Affairs, who is now speaking with the IG on the ABSU gang rape case,” he tweeted.

Recalled that the Nigerian blogsphere was awash over the weekend with a video recording showing 'five bad boys' taking turns and turns on a helpless lady with impunity. She was cornered into a dark room, slapped around and harassed by the young men, presumably students of the same University, two of whom she apparently knew. They threatening to kill her if she does not 'corporate', even as her cries for mercy fell on deaf ears.

As a blogger, I watched a glimpse of the video and I can tell you it is the worse form of dehumanization any person can go through... I just hope our security agencies would rise to the occasion and bring this thugs to justice.

Munachi Abii Denies Dating Terry G

"I really don’t know where that story came from. Terry G and I ? Have you ever seen me with him before? I am not in any relationship with Terry G. When people don’t hear from you for a while, they just decide to talk about you, linking you with one person or the other to see if you will deny or accept it, just to make you say something," these were the words of Ex-beauty queen turned rapper, Munachi Abii, in a recent interview debunking rumours that she and Ginga Master, Terry G, are dating.

However, on a lighter note, she welcomed the rumour, saying: "I don’t know where the news came from and I don’t know how they came about it [but] I appreciate it anyway because if people don’t talk about you, it means you are irrelevant. So, I am very grateful."

The babe is a fine girl sha but I hear some olofofo people are saying she's not Terry G's class and that whoever is imagining the two as a pair is a dreamer. But I believe these people should learn to speak for themselves... anything can happen. Remember, never say never!

How Nigeria Lost Out To Egypt

As events at the 10th All Africa Games in Mozambique came to a colourful end, Egypt delivered a sucker punch on our own Team Nigeria, dislodging it from second position. Nigeria and Tunisia, for long, were in a close-knit chase for the second position but the Egyptians sprung a surprise to overtake Nigeria with just one gold medal. They hauled 32 gold, 14 silver and 20 bronze medals as against Nigeria’s 31 gold, 28 silver and 39 bronze medals.

Team Nigeria thus finished in third position, even as Team South Africa expectedly topped the medals table with 61 gold, 55 silver and 40 bronze medals... But na wa o; LWKMD. See how Big Brother dey pursue Small Brother like Olodo! Anyway, our people try small. At least they came back with third position.
