Man Sent to Prison for Stealing Vegetable Oil

A Magistrate Court in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Monday sentenced a 28 years old man, Dada Kabiru, to six months in prison with hard labour for stealing 25 litres of vegetable oil, valued at N7,000.

During cross examination, the convict had pleaded guilty to the charge and begged for leniency. The magistrate, Olusola Aluko, however gave him an option of N5,000 fine... The problem now is where would this petty criminal get the money to save himself from spending the next six months in a prison where he'll be fed with about N200 daily?

Slain Banker’s Husband Attempted Suicide in Prison

I guess you guys remember Akolade Arowolo, the man who allegedly killed his banker-wife, Titilayo Omozoje, and is being held at the Ikoyi Prison in Lagos? Well, information I scoop from a reliable source is that he attempted to take his own life inside the prison last week by drinking an acidic substance.

It was gathered that sequel to the incident, Akolade was rushed to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, where he is still recuperating. Anonymous sources at the hospital confirmed that he indeed ingested a harmful acidic substance.

From the tests conducted, we discovered that Akolade took a substance with high acidic content. As I am speaking to you, he has just undergone a surgery because his stomach cannot retain solid food. So, we had to pass a tube through it so that he can eat,” said an insider source.

You may wish to know that Akolade is undergoing trial for the alleged murder of late Ttilayo at a Yaba chief magistrate court in Lagos. The next hearing comes up on October 26.

First Black Child on Earth to Have Aging Disease

Ontlametse doing some classwork in the midst of her classmates

Little miss Ontlametse Phalatse is a 12-year old girl whose wish is to live like every other kid around her. But nature has something different in stock for her. She has been diagnosed with progeria, a genetic condition that causes a person to age very quickly.

Upon close examination, doctors say she is only expected to live another two years. There's no reliable data yet to ascertain the prevalent the disease world, but the Progeria Research Foundation said the number of children diagnosed has risen from 48 to 80 in recent times.

Ontlametse's mother, Mrs. Bellon Phalatse, said her child looked normal when she was born, but that it didn't take long to realize that something was wrong. By her first birthday, her hair was falling out. To make matters worse, the child's father left the family when the little girl was only three. "It was horrible, I don't know how to explain what we went through," she added.

So far, only two African children have been diagnosed with the disease and they both live in South Africa.

Official Statement From Olisa Adibua the 'Boxer'

This is coming after he had 'boxed' his colleague, Adewunmi Oyekanmi, mercilessly... Read on:
As has been widely reported I was involved in an altercation with a work colleague during the week. I am deeply regretful of what transpired and have taken full responsibility for my actions. I have privately apologized to my colleague, the team that I work with and I am taking this opportunity to apologize to the public at large. As humans we all make mistakes and I made a major one which is completely out of character. I over reacted to a situation and that is something that will never repeat itself.

Despite being at the centre of a media feeding frenzy, I’ve been silent in order to allow the organization, to which I’m affiliated with and at who’s premises the incident occurred, to carry out its investigations and come to a conclusion but most importantly to allow the aggrieved party (Mr. Adewunmi Oyekanmi) time to accept my heartfelt apology.

Victim of Chimpanzee Attack Gets New Face

In what is being described as a miracle of modern medicine, the lady - Ms. Charla Nash - who was mauled by a Chimpanzee that gave her a disfigured face two years ago, is now wearing a new look. Thanks to some specialist doctors in Boston, the 57 years old woman can live a normal life again.

In appreciation to those who came to her aid, Ms. Nash said: “I am tremendously grateful to the donor and her family... I will be able to smell. I will be able to eat normally. I will no longer be disfigured. I will have lips and will speak clearly again. I will be able to kiss and hug loved ones”.

It would be recalled that Ms Nash was attacked in 2009 by her neighbor’s 200 pound Chimpanzee that went out of control when she was helping to lure it into its cage. The chimp ripped off her nose, lips, eye lids and hands before she was rescued by nearby policemen... Thank God she 'regained' her face.

The governor of Imo State, Chief Rochas Okorocha, has been dragged before the High Court of the State by the chairman of the South-East Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Cletus Ilomuanya. The move is aimed at challenging the dissolution and sack of the state's council of traditional rulers before the actual expiration of their tenure.

In an originating summons brought before the court, the monarch is seeking reliefs on an order setting aside the dissolution of the Council of Ndi-Eze and removal from office of the claimant by the governor on June 6, 2011. He said his tenure was supposed to end in 2015.

No official statement from the governors office at this time.

The 'Controversial' Wealth of Nigerian Pastors

Is this man of God crying wolf or there's some sense in what he's saying?
The other day, somebody asked a very 'sensitive' question which really got me thinking. Here is the question:
"Why should I be paying my Tithe to a Church yet I CANNOT send my children to a School built by the Church with my Tithe because of exorbitant schools fees?" And this led me to make some findings.

According to a recent publication by Forbes, five of the leading men of God in Nigeria is worth $235million, in Nigerian currency this is well over N33billion. The report ranked them as follows: Bishop David Oyedepo of Winners Chapel ($150 million), Chris Oyakhilome of Christ Embassy ($50 million), T.B. Joshua of Synagogue ($15 million), Matthew Ashimolowo of KICC ($10 million) and Chris Okotie of Household of God ($10 million).

According to another report, Pastor Chris Okotie was angry that the said Forbes report ranked him as last among the pack. The report said he claimed to worth far more than what was ascribed to him by the Forbes report. No doubt this is a 'controversial' issue because it affects people that I respect myself. But could there be a better way of doing things than is been done now? Or is this what the Bible teaches?

In case you don't know, school fees in our Pentecostal Church-owned Universities in Nigeria ranges between N550,000 to N350,000. Now, can "average" Christians in this country send their kids to such schools without engaging in corruption and outright stealing of government funds? For God's sake, what is the Salary of a Director, Manager, Supervisor, etc.?

Feel free to drop your comment, but please remember the warning in 1st Corinthians 16:22 while you do so. Sure there would be a lot of surprises on the last day!
