Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has joined the league of record label owners in the highly competitive Nigeria entertainment industry. I heard his own firm is known as Premiere Records, and that the idea was born out of his desire to help young artistes who are looking up to him in the industry.
“A lot of up-and-coming musicians have been on my neck, asking me to create the same platform for musical talents in Nigeria... So, I decided by starting within me and I am hopeful it will help to project some young talents,” the award-winning comedian told a reporter.

"Nigerian Leaders Need Training on Security Issues"
Following the increased spat of insecurity in our country, the president of Society of Security Practitioners of Nigeria, Mr. Davidson Akhimien, has called on our political leaders at all levels of government to sign up and receive relevant training on security management.
According to the security expert, such training would “enable them understand the need to approve certain security operations, or the importance of funding whenever the leadership of security agencies require it. The training will also ensure that the appointment of security heads is not politicised and that square pegs are put in square holes, instead of attributing such sensitive positions to zoning and other political factors.”
Hope those running our national security will heed this advice and beginning a process of training for all decision makers? As someone who's knowledgeable in security matters, I'm in total support of this call.

Patrick Obahiagbon Versus Goodluck Jonathan
On Tuesday September 6th, 2001, President Goodluck Jonathan will be marking his first 100 days in office as an elected president of the federal republic of Nigeria. Government critics and apologists have been sharing different thoughts about how Mr. Jonathan has fared thus far.
However, one of such thoughts caught my attention and I decide to share with you guys. It's the comment of former House of Reps member, Hon Patrick Obahiagbon, who's know for his big, big grammar. Please read his comment below and tell me what you make out of it:

"The last 100 days of President Jonathan has smirked of Olympian phlegmatism and byzantine anchorage. The truth is that Nigerians are righteously indignant of the years of locusts that they are not in the mood to put up with any vacillation or vacuous rhetoric on issues that have to do with political_economy. I pray that Mr President responds prestissimo to the legitimate yearnings of our people, given the crest of goodwill upon which he ascended power.”Na wa for this man o. How Oga Jona go take understand wetin im dey talk now?... I even heard that it was because of his too much grammar that his people refuse to re-elect him in the last elections.

Dangote Emerges Highest Private Sector Investor
Dangote group, producer of Dangote Cement, Suga, Flour and other essential stuffs, has emerged the highest private sector investor in Nigeria, with an investment portfolio running into billions of dollars. In spite of this, the group is set to invest another N900 billion into the economy within the next 12 months.
In a bid to encourage like-minded entrepreneurs to the Nigerian market, the federal government is putting in place a platform to recognise the contributions of people like Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Chairman of the Group. The minister of Trade and Investment, Olusegun Aganga, believes that such move would attract more local and foreign Investors to bring their money to Nigeria.
You may wish to know that Nigeria’s Vision 2020 document stipulates that for the country’s economy to grow, it must attract investments of not less than N34trillion in key areas in the next four years. Of this amount, the federal government will account for N10trillion, state governments N9trillion, and the private sector N15trillion.

Mother Dumps Baby in Pit, Claims Ignorance
The 20 years old mother, Odunayo Bamisaye, who threw her day-old baby in a pit in Ekiti State recently has claimed ignorance of the incident, saying she was not herself. She argued that if at all it was true, then it could be because there was no one to help her during the delivery.
Here is are own side of the story:
Here is are own side of the story:
“That day, I went to the stream to fetch water around 7: 00 p.m., while on my way going, I started to labour and I looked around for help but there was no one around to help me. While I was still in pain, I saw that the baby came out of my body. After the baby came out, it did not cry nor did it shake its body. I thought it was dead. I then decided to throw the baby into the pit close to where I had it with the umbilical cord”.
However, her mother and neighbours held contrary views, they said that was not the first time the young mother had done such a thing. They pointed out that she did same when she was in school a couple of years back... Anyway, the baby was rescued alive and the father said he believes the baby will be great tomorrow.

Mel Gibson To Pay Ex-Girlfriend $750,000
Mel Gibson and his ex-girlfriend, Oksana Grigorieva, have both agreed to a $750,000 settlement to be paid by the former to the latter.
The settlement, reached in a law court, states that Gibson will pay the money in three installments. The first installment once the agreement is signed. The second on September 15, 2013 and the third on January 1, 2016. The settlement also awarded both Gibson and Grigorieva custody of their daughter, Lucia.
The two were however warned against writing any book(s) or article(s) about their relationship, or release any material to the press... Let's hope this "settlement" puts an end to their long drama.

A Mad Woman Attended Mercy Johnson's Wedding
While Mercy Johnson and Prince Odianosen Okojie were being joined in holy matrimony at Christ Embassy Church, Oregun, last Saturday, little did they know that a ‘mad’ woman was among the guests they would ""attend to".
In the course of event, a woman dressed in long jeans skirt and a spaghetti top tried gaining access into the Church but was denied access by the security officials when she could not give a good account of who she was. They soon found out that she was not mentally stable.
The woman, however, stayed put at the gate where she pulled off a melodrama, throwing her bags on the floor and flinging her clothes everywhere. It was indeed another means of entertainment for the set of journalists who were also not allowed into the venue.
I heard she condemned the marriage, saying it was too expensive... Well, she was said to have left about an hour before the couple stepped out of the Church.
