North's Call For Death Penalty for Corrupt Leaders Stirs Controversy


The call by the Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, that death penalty should be the punishment for leaders convicted for corruption cases stirred a controversy on Wednesday.

While the Ndigbo youths in Ohanaeze were divided on the propriety or otherwise of the demand, the Trade Union Congress and the Congress for Progressive Change hailed the ACF demand and submitted that corruption in the country required such a drastic measure.

Banks Still Charging N100 For ATM Transactions -Customers


Despite the Bankers' Committee decision on Tuesday that all charges on inter-bank ATM transactions be stopped, many of the deposite money banks are still charging Nigerians.

“Could you imagine that GTB charged N100.00 for using the First Bank ATM card to withdraw. It’s like the banks don’t want to comply with the directive,” a customer said after an ATM transaction.

Patrick Obahiagbo Appointed Chief Of Staff To Governor Oshiomhole


The people of Edo State are in for interesting 'grammatical' times as Hon Patrick Obahiagbon, a former member of the House of Representatives, who is well known for his oratorical stunts has been appointed as Chief of Staff to the Edo State governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

Obahiagbon has a reputation of regularly dishing out words which needs a dictionary to be understood. Most of his conversations tend to be a one way traffic as in most cases, he alone understands himself while his listeners clap in admiration.

It is the country’s second oldest storey building. Located in Ota, Ogun State, the Cathedral Church of Saint James (CCSJ) boasts of a history that makes it comparable to Westminster Abbey in London. It was here that Reverend Ajayi Crowther did the first translation of the Bible into the Yoruba language.

And what’s more, CCSJ still has in its possession items that were used by the very first occupants of the building back in 1842. The items include a chalice, a baptism bowl, two altar chairs, coins currency and other historical curios.
