Aso Rock in Confusion over Jonathan's Wife Health

The Presidency seems confused as to the exact state of health of the first lady, Dame Patience Jonathan or could this be another of their hide and seek game that has since come to be associated with news of ill-health  of any member of the ruling family?

Reuben Abati, spokesman to President Goodluck Jonathan, had told reporters that the first lady is in a good state of health. He claimed “everybody saw her in the church on Sunday” but didn't say where she was on Monday.

Fire Breaks Out At Ikeja City Mall

Several shoppers and passersby scampered for their life as fire broke out in the popular Ikeja City Mall in the Lagos city center on Tuesday afternoon. The fire which started around 11am was first noticed in Mr Price, one of the stores in the Mall.

Men of the Lagos State Fire Service, whose office is located behind the Mall, were said to have responded promptly to the emergency situation.

Jonathan Mobilizes For Obasanjo's Reception

President Goodluck Jonathan, ex-Ghanaian President John Kufuor and some governors are scheduled to attend a civic reception in honour of former President Olusegun Obasanjo following his voluntary retirement from office as Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party.

The two-day event billed for the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, from January 18 to 19, is expected to be chaired by former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, and Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido.
