Husband and Wife Arrested Over Illegal Business

Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos State Command, has arrested a trader, John Gere, and his wife, Queen Gere, as well as three others for alleged pipeline vandalism.

“They were arrested in Epe and they even attacked some of the officers who went for the raid. We recovered from them more than 20 kegs of petrol. They will be charged to court and the exhibit will be handed over to either the police, court or Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation as the case may be.”

There was mild drama on on Tuesday as Nigeria's Minister of State for Defence, Erelu Olusola Obada, collapsed and fainted into the hands of military officers on 15th January, 2013, when the deafening sounds of artillery fire reverberated during the celebration of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Abuja.

There was no announcement before the artillery fire rented the air, as this is usual on such an occasion.

Sanusi Bombshell! Calls for Ban of CAN, ACF, JNI and Afenifere

The controversial governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has turned his attention to ethno-religious groups in the country. He has urged the Federal Government to ban them as a way of curbing insecurity in the country.

“I almost didn’t want to attend this occasion because I am opposed to regional, ethnic and religious groupings in this country. In fact, I would like the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Jamatul Nasril Islam (JNI) , Afenifere and all such other groups to be banned.”
