Do you think Mallam el-Rufai was right to engage in such 'expensive' joke?
The Christian Association of Nigeria on Wednesday in Abuja reacted to the allusion to Jesus Christ by a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, on a social media.
CAN urged religious leaders and political associates to advise him on the need to be sober and circumspect, in his comments to avoid "setting the country on fire.”
The body condemned el-Rufai, saying he was only tring to whip up sentiments around religion for a selfish agenda. Calling on President Goodluck Jonathan to check the former minister, CAN added that from his unbridled assault on the Christian faith, el-Rufai is capable of destroying the peace in Nigeria.
The ex-minister had, in an attempt to discredit the Minister of Information, Labaran Maku; Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe; and Presidential Adviser on Media and Publcity, Dr. Reuben Abati, retweeted, “”@zebbook: If Jesus criticises Jonathan’s govt, Maku/Abati/Okupe will say he slept with Mary Magdalene.”….LWKMD…..”
The sarcastic post elicited angry reactions from his followers on Twitter and Facebook friends, who saw his comment as blasphemous. The twitter post sparked public outrage on the social media so much that he had to offer an apology on Twitter and Facebook.
The General Secretary of CAN, Dr. Musa Asake, who read the assocation’s first official reaction on el-Rufai's careless utterance to journalists, described the statement by the former minister as reckless and a reflection of deep-seated moral bankruptcy.
He said, “We must not allow him to turn Nigeria into a cauldron of fire by his reckless, bigoted and twisted commentaries about our Lord and our faith, and we must view him for exactly what he is.

People like this El-Rufai and his brother Sanusi do not hav business in government. They should go and joun Boko Haram in their senseless business. mtschew!
ReplyDeleteThis short mallam is only speaking because our president Jona is a weak man who cant confront crooks. Imagine all the damages he caused Nigerians while in government yet he can still talk. hmmmmm
ReplyDeleteEl Rufai is a liability to d opposition and should be kicked out fron their midst b4 he causes more damage ahead 2015 election
ReplyDeleteI dont kno wat dis el-rufai wants dat he is busy disturbing ppl wit his nonsense talks self, busybody man, nobody has a right to talk abt God's prophets anyhow wether he is a christian or a muslim cos islam forbids it & condemns it..........danny
ReplyDeleteWhat do ya'all expect from a man who don't have faith, when a notable man of God who is held in high esteem by the Church, says its a shame for a president to kneel in prayers before a minister of the gospel?
ReplyDeleteI tink we shld learn to forgive n forget. He has at least apologised. N dats not a common act among us. E don do abt him abeg.
ReplyDeleteTalk about mohammed, heads will roll.sorry for my fellow xtians
ReplyDeleteThe Holy Book says "do unto others as you want them to do to you". Our Moslem bothers will not accept this sort of comment. They should therefore not make it about our Lord Jesus.
ReplyDeleteApology or no apology, we should be careful what we say and do!

ReplyDeleteAnon 12:04 I support u. I was in d north when the Miss World contest was scheduled to hold in Abuja and d north vehemently kicked against it, saying they are in the fasting period. New Nigeria Newspaper carelessly published the comment of someone that said that if Mohammed was alive, we will marry one of those girls. And behold heads rolled. The NNN office was burnt down, lives were lost, properties were looted. Most of us that escaped, got to know the cause after the whole mahem was over. We never got to see this newspaper up to today. And anon 11:35 is talking about apology. If the comment was from the other religion ur brothers and sisters in the north would have turned refugees by now. So that bastard should watch his tongue or it will be plucked out.
ReplyDeletePoint of correction my frnd, it is thisday newspaper & not NNN, ok.

Let these Leaders (Muslims & Christians) speak out

Whatever the comment made by Malam El-rufai on the Lordship of Jesus Christ, we as Christians dont fight for the God we serve, it is only people are serving a dead god that always fight for that god.
ReplyDeleteEl Rufai is a big fool seeking relevance.
ReplyDeleteolu am disapointed in u for not posting my comment
ReplyDeleteEl Rufai and Sanusi,CBN Gov.,and all their likes, have woefully failed in their use of BOKO HARAM to achieve their Jihadist agender. You remember the open financial support from Sanusi, the diversionary tactics of accusing Igbos as those bombing churches and Mosques by El Rufai, the calling for the heads of GEJ and Fred Chijiuka including inciting call for repeat of 1966 pogrom by the Kano state IMAM,and the host of other antics via discrediting the GEJ lead government, the gangsterism of the NGF,AREWA,NEF,KADUNA MAFIA,and what have you,all in the quest to grab power in ASO ROCK,but all these seem to be unworkable for them. Now they have changed their gear to blaspheming to create and or incite Christians to toe the same line against Mohamed/Islam to trigger religious killings and war between Nigerian Christians and Moslems ,and of course by extension all over moslem world as is always the case whenever any slightest reference is made about Mohammed. But again I said, they have failed because we Christians worship the living GOD and not Mammon, therefore, could not engage in destroying human lives like the unbelievers do.
ReplyDeleteALL SOUTHERNERS,NORTHERN CHRISTIANS,GOOD THINKING NIGERIANS,it is now obvious what agenda these men and their religious cohorts have for us if power at ASO ROCK eventually get back to them.Use your tongue to count your teeth!!!! Be wise and say no to any Moslem president again till after the devolution of power at the center to the regions or at best till after 20 years.Beware of these Jihadists angling for power via the impending mega-merger of opposition parties.Take a cue of what is happening in Egypt today.

I now know that El-Rufai suffers a great deal from mad cow disease and thus, he is mentally challenged if not, how on earth will a normal person make such comment on JESUS, why didn't he pass such on his religious leader/ prophet to see what'll happen to him. Son of perdition.
