Too many of us are good at relishing the exploits of the rich and wealthy in our society without giving a thought to the processes (good and bad) these “comfortable” people would have passed through to attain their present lofty heights. This is how it goes: for the bad rich guys, it is either they’ve carried out one form of ritual, unleashed some advance fraud scheme on fellow citizens, perfected the act of siphoning public funds or engaging in outright stealing. The good wealthy folks, on their part, would have invested time and energy learning, mastering and religiously applying the principles of wealth with remarkable results.
Either way, none is a case of bread and butter. If you want the good path, you must be ready to make key sacrifices backed with a sound character; but if you desire the bad and easy way, you will also live the rest of your life trying to ensure your rump is well covered because you don’t want the authorities coming after you in future.
Nobody can participate in a race without entering the track; neither can an ill-prepared person emerge a winner. The message I’m sending here is that time waits for nobody and it is the critical tool we have to buy our future. Life is not waiting for your signal (of readiness) before events begin to unfold. The race of life is on and will continue, irrespective of your present position - in or out. The more you cling onto your comfort zone for fear of the unknown, the more the world is changing and you’re becoming outdated because you will be operating with yesterday’s mentality while some are busy conquering today’s challenges and eagerly looking forward to tomorrow possibilities.
This week I want to introduce you to some valuable resources that should be put in place as you begin the transition from either an employee, unemployed or a small business owner into a force to reckon with in the emerging global village. The times we live in are impregnated with daunting complexities. Nevertheless, it is what you know, how much more you are ready to learn and your determination to carve a niche for yourself in a particular sphere that will secure your kingdom and establish your kingship. Don’t look for money first, rather, build structures. This goes beyond having a cosy office, a functional website or a good automobile. The tools that are required at this stage are responsibility, knowledge and courage. Search yourself, discover which of the tools you are lacking presently and start working towards acquiring them. Time and these three tools, I tell you, are all you need to start taking your baby steps that would later transcend into giant strides through the application of more tools that I’ll be revealing later.
Get your analysis right by accessing your current position with a clear head. Does what you’re doing now have any relationship with your natural talents, gifts and passion or is it just to keep body and soul together? If your present job or business has no correlation whatsoever with your natural abilities (that is if you know them), then I’m afraid you are treading on sleepy grounds and you had better begin to work out strategies for beating a retreat. While still on your present job/business, start something small on the side which could be leveraged on to sharpen your natural abilities. Nurture the little baby with your time, energy and resources. Treat it like you would treat the big ‘achievement’ you’re dreaming about. Give it time to grow and you should also grow with it. If you are not faithful with a little the possibility is you might also abuse plenty when it comes.
So, be committed to the little ‘baby’; work diligently and wait patiently for its growth. Savour your ‘new’ baby as it embarks on the natural process of growth. Network all the way. Let people know what you do; make noise about it; scream aloud if you have to. Leave the world with no option but to give you a listening hear. If you’re not proud of marketing your products or services because they are not yet big, then take it from me that you are far away from a life of abundance. Show up on your business desk with pride every other day. Do not be deceived; no human is perfect. No one started out having all the skills and resources needed. Your case isn’t an exception. Start now and I can assure you that it will get better with time.
Hit the ground running and start building structures towards running your own show based on your identified talents. If anyone should make it in this life, you and I are qualified because we’re created in God’s image and likeness. If you believe in the veracity of what you’re presently doing, work towards improving it in all ramifications to be compliant with modern best practices. There is always a need for improvement in our endeavours. Don’t rely solely on the ‘much’ you already know, there are new innovations and information that could be tapped from to enhance productivity. There is no reason wishing for an easy life; strive to live above board despite the obvious challenges.
If you are currently in a paid employment, appraise your position and ascertain what’s feasible before making any move. If you believe you need to acquire some more skills before launching out, please do so, especially if it would boost your chances of moving from want to wealth in a record time. However, if on the other hand you are convinced that you courage level is good enough to cause a stir in the business arena, I urge you to take the leap. Every success story started small and it wasn’t a tea party. Note that it is the amount of courage you are able to muster, your ‘staying power’ and the ability to remain sane and focused in the midst of the storms that would deliver your medals in the fullness of time.
