How Social Media Is Influencing Student's Failure

Is there really a connection between student's failure and the social media?
“This book tried to showcase the pitfalls that cause people to fail so that they will know the mistakes and abstain from them. As a diploma student, I have gone down that road and I know the mistakes some of our friends have made; so we’re trying to showcase such mistakes so that the upcoming generation will be educated on these mistakes and avoid them.” - Folashade Olanipekun
The Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqquattu Ahmed Rufai, has said the unceasing concentration of Nigeria's students on social media sites is the bane of their increasing poor performance.

The minister said this at the launch of a book ‘21 Ways To Fail Diploma Well’, at the weekend in Abuja. She said that rather than concentrate on their studies, students have become fixated with social networks and  now daily romance with a lot of junk available on the web.

In a chat with Leadership, the author of the book, Folashade Olanipekun, a final year student of Law in UNILAG said she wanted to use the book to expose the pitfalls of diploma students, and how to avoid them.

She stated that even though the book was targeted at diploma students, it is also recommended to students all over the country for their educational success.

The minister was represented by director, Department of Tertiary Education, Alhaji Abubakar Mohammed.
