You Do Not Need A Private Jet To Do God's Work -Bishop Flays Pastor Oritsejafor

“If you are preaching salvation which the gospel is all about, I don’t think you need a jet,” the Bishop of the Diocese of Ife, Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev. Oluwole Odubogun, has faulted the President of CAN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, for joining the league of private jet owners in the country.

Rt. Rev. Odubogun described the donation of the private jet to Oritsejafor as a show of wealth amid poverty, want and deprivation in the society.

Insisting that Pastor Oritsejafor does not need a private jet to preach the gospel, he said:
"Having a private jet in the midst of want, in the midst of poverty and in the midst of all kinds of deprivation is a show of wealth, which is not precisely in consonance with the gospel.

"According to the gospel, those who have should share with those who do not have. When you are riding in a jet, you don’t know what is happening to the other people on the street. You are on your own.

"Whether the public transportation system is adequately taken care of you don’t know, because you have cut yourself off from the people whom you are supposed to guide and emancipate."

The bishop added, "Let us say you need the jet to get to places on time. But the gospel is not meant for one person. It is not meant for one leader. There is no reason why you are the only one to go everywhere. And if you don’t have to go everywhere, you don’t need a jet.

"You will need a jet when you are running your private business. You will need a jet if you are the only one to oversee what is happening. As far as the gospel is concerned, God is in control. And God, who is in control, is giving us a message to disciple all nations."

Rt Rev. Odubogun spoke at a programme of the diocese, Carnival for Christ 2012, on Saturday.

  2. shut your mouth up by supporting evil, animal. You must be punished by supporting this evil in our nation. what are these people doing with private jet ? men of God. Hmmmmmmm I wonder where we are heading to ! Oyedepo got 4 private jets what is him doing with them ? does that mean that everybody in his church are ok? could someone answer me this question? I live here in England and am a member of catholic church. In our church here before the church closes the Rv father will ask the congregation if they know anybody or family that needs support of the church that they should give their address and phone.before you know it they will go to the address given to them and shower them with gift money etc. it doesn't matter if you are a member of the church or not but they will be very happy to help you.our church here in England normally go to hospital on daily basis to visit the sick ones and give them what they could be happy with money etc.Just imagine how precious the English government is to their citizens but yet churches still show more love to them as well.why don't we Nigerians adopt the same type of life from them, the way we adopted English language from them. We should love one another and our betterment will starts from church. You can not love someone and see the person hungry and still have the mind of buying private jet without attending to the person needs.God said that we should love our neighbour as we love ourselves.but in nigeria pastors love their private jets more than their members ! is it supposed to be so? So far so good the only pastor in Nigeria that is generous to his people is only TB Joshua.why don't other pastors copy from TB joshua cos we have heard much good things about him.

Please and please copy and paste this comment for "ALL PASTORS PRIVATE JETS" owners in Nigeria.
It's a pity when I checked up the cost and maintenance of these toys called "Private Jets". Its outrageous.
      http://www.controller.com/
Aliko Dangote described it as the most expensive toy he ever bought.
These are the people supporting the corrupt LEADERS called politicians.

    4. Well Spoken Nnanna, If all Pastors begin to emanate the ways of TB Joshua, i think it will go a long way to bring salvation to the people and also curb corruption, the Muslim Imams are also good examples to follow. They lead their congregation without being paid nor receive any form of flamboyant gifts rather the help and support the needy in their direct environment, that is what humanity is all about.
Speaking of TB Joshua, I am a Muslim and i chose to remain that way, but i will keep supporting and praying for a man who has dedicated his like and ministry to helping and supporting others, he is not like every other pastors and general overseas who would like to spread tentacles and collect more tight by forcing people to sow seed for GOD while they are the one devouring the money.
Please ask and follow the way the Muslims sow and collect thighs and what they are used for and how they are being used for.
I for one will advice all pastor to cut down on their comforts as this are distractions from even the supposed work of God they are supposed to be doing.
Remember in the last day where GOD has promised that it will be easy for a Camel to pass through the hole of a needle than for a rich man to enter into Paradise...
Too much luxury set us far from GOD...

  5. ANY POLITICIAN OR PASTOR THAT HAS THE MIND OF BUYING PRIVATE JET IS A POUR THIEF HOW CAN YOU USE 8 BILLION TO BUY PRIVATE JET WHERE OTHERS ARE SUFFERING? THAT'S WICKEDNESS AND INHUMANITY.WHILE SO MANY PEOPLE ARE IN THE HOSPITAL DYING FOR COMMON 5 THOUSAND NAIRA PASTORS COULD DONATE BEFORE THEIR TREATMENT COMMENCE. PREGNANT WOMEN ARE HAVING THEIR BABY INSIDE THEIR BEDROOM DUE TO INSUFFICIENT FUNDS TO PAY FOR THEIR BILLS AND YOU AS A PASTOR YOU PRETEND AS IF YOU DON'T KNOW ALL THESE THUS HAVING THE MIND OF BUYING PRIVATE JET. HMMMMMMM AM SO SORRY FOR YOU AND THAT YOUR PRIVATE JET COS GOD WILL SURELY MAKE YOU TO UNDERSTAND THAT THE MONEY OF THAT PRIVATE JET IS FOR POOR AND CHARITY NOT FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS TO LIVE A LUXURIOUS LIVES WITH THE MONEY MEANT FOR POOR. PASTORS IN NIGERIA SHOULD LIVE THE LIVES OF WESTERNER PASTORS. GREEDY IS NOT GOOD.PLS HELP THE POOR. STOP SAYING YOU GOT PLAN AS A GIFT, THAT'S HOW OYEDEPO STARTED NOW HE HAS 4 JETS. 6. So sad NNANNA could say this yet another person affirm the sad statement.
Here are few pointers that needs to be considered.
    1. This people spends thousands of dollars annually on good deeds as itemized above by NNANNA but doesnt publicize as there isnt any reason for such infact it could be considered show off.
    2. We dont shout when members buy exotic cars for the pastors but we do when it comes to jet all hell break loose. Who told you these properties belong to the pastors?they are all church's property so lets be careful. Instances like this reminds me of the last air mishap, sadly even those who claims they are on the receiving end (road travellers) were the first to start shouting asking for a ban on the airline that crashed when just few days ago alot of people lost their lives on lagos ibadan express. We see no need to fix the road but there definately is a need to revamp the avaiation sector. Truth be told the money expended on the jet cant fix any of the problems on ground,it could be paliative though.
    3. Before we rush to judge this people, lets remember they are people like yourself and myself who just wishes to have a better life. I'll rather prefer the means of acquisition be question with facts and not just assume everyone is corrupt.
Because I am a friend to a sinner doesnt make me a sinner. Careful exammination is required else we will be condemning just the one thing we claim to stand for.

Before you decide to lurch at my post, retrospect and ask urself again have i been fair in my judgement

    1. Oga Adewale,
There is a yoruba proverb that says "Omo ti yo je ogun kogun, yio ri eri keri mu wa" i.e. Son who wanted to inherit bad property, will advance a bad reason for doing so.
When the wife of our president was sick, she was flown to Germany,
When the governor had an accident, he was flown to Germany,
Here, Nigerians spent there fortune to send their kids to schools abroad
To setup factories, you needed generator, borehole, OPC not police,
      Police take bribe openly
Our presient up to date has not declare his asset, Obama collect $450,000 a year as salary
Call 911, ambulance will come to your help.
When people have accident in Nigeria and take them to hospital, they needed police reports, etc
      etc
      It's indeed painful.
What we are doing, is the beginning of the solution.

  7. Pastors should focus on welfare and well being of people not plane that's all.lots of people are suffering in Nigeria. let us not conceal evil pls everyone should be sincere in site pls.

  8. Pastors with jets really is a stupid thing to do in a nation filled with corruption and poverty. It only clarifies the claims that they are fake and dubious. I don't think the bible allows such mindless gluttony for extravagance brouhaha. They need flogging to bring them back to reality. Fake ass pastors with brainwashed congregation always use certain bible verses to protect themselves from criticism. Their time is drawing near anyway, the people will soon see through the lies those fake and wicked pastors say to make people pay for their extravagant king-style lifestyle.

  11. Mr. Adewale. Show me your friend and I will tell you who you are. A thief is a thief. Most of these Politicial and Pastors were thieves and 419. A thief is always a thief you can not collect money from a thief thinking that your prayers will provide savation. God Almighty will be the JUDGE because there are millions of Nigerians out there who can not afford daily bread. With the Billions earnings from oil; one can smell proverty everywhere from Airport entrance door.

  13. @ 14;28 yes the poor always saying that the church leaders should own a jet because they don't know how much it costs to buy it. If only person could call them together and explain to them how much be 8 billion the cost of one private jet.to pieces 8 billion is 500 hundred thousand into 16 thousand pieces will make 8billion.then 100 thousand into eighty thousand pieces will make 8 billion.they will automatically go against pastors using their money to buy the so called jets. the poor ones always think the cost of plane and car are the same. so that is why they are having the impetus to say that they don't see anything wrong in pastor owning jet. they don't know the different between car and plane that is it. meanwhile NNANNA THANKS VERY MUCH FOR YOU COMMENT GOD BLESS YOU WELL WELL.

  15. Enough have been said about this private jet.I personally don't see anything wrong in having a jet if one can afford it.Leave d pastor alone and let he go spread d gospel of God.

  16. Eiiiiiii, Africa! Poverty has blinded the way out of poverty that, it will all right for any other person to own a plane but for a pastor and christian, it is a sin. Christian are yet to control the wealth. Hahahahaha, let those who think it is wrong complain not but start walking by foot.

  17. Nnana, you have no right to abuse or call people names, everybody has the right to post their comments. That is uncalled for. Point of correction, oyedepo doesn't have 4 jets, so always get your fact right, don't just right rumours.
Point of correction 2, pastor oritsejafor didn't but the jet, it awas given to him as a gift. So your judgement and comments are based on wrong information. And one question, if a friend give you ipad 3 as a gift will you turn it down, or sell it to feed the poor? Why are you staying in England, in an apartment that can pay for rents for about 4 poor families in Nigeria. Maybe you should come back home, and start staying in a face me I face you, so you cant help the poor with the money from the expensive apartment ya staying in England. How many poor people have you helped personally? Until you can do these things, you don't have the right to judge anyone. I'm not on anybody's side o! whether it's you or the Bishop or the pastor in question, my point is; what if it's God's will that the gift should be given to pastor? No one knows. The Bishop that has pasted his comments act like he know God so well. And God has commanded us to go to the end of the earth to preach the Gospel, so the Gospel is not just for Nigerians. There's no big deal in Jet, its just a state of mind, as long as it is serving a purpose and not a luxury....................shikena

  18. My dear Oluwaseyi, pastor Oyedepo had 5 jets until 2 were sold recently. And for pastor Oritsejafor, even if it was a gift could sell it and donate the proceed for a good course.

The Bible told us that if in the eating of meat you will cause your brother to sin we should desist from eating of meat... Eating of meat is not wrong in itself, this is just telling us we should be careful how we let other people perceive us.

I am a Christian and believe in the prosperity of the people of God. I could understand pastors that have parishes all over the world, the need to move around and connect with these parishes. If the Church feel there is a need here, it is the duty of the Church to provide the means. It could be a jet or a rocket for I care. But this should be the asset of the Church not a private individual.

98 Percent of Church goers are in abject poverty while the pastor who suppose to be a priest is living in superfluous affluence. How could them possibly understand what the congregation are going through. Jesus Christ, our perfect example, could have stayed in heaven with all the comforts and still provide a means through which all could be saved? He abdicated the fluffy throne for Him to have intimate understanding of what it takes to be human.

I can't reconcile all these ostentatious life style with the injunction God gave during the journey of the Israelite to the promiseland. God specifically instructed that the Levites (the Priest lineage) should not have any apportionment in the sharing of the promise land. Nowadays, the pastors are taken over everything. Whatever happened to the "Apostle Doctrine" of old beats my imagination.

How could one explain a situation where a Church establish a school and 95 percent of the members are not ordinarily able to afford sending their children or wards to such schools they contributed in building? I know there is a saying that touch not my anointed... But where a so called man of God is ostentatious, he has already misused the anointing of God over his life. We should remember that it wasn't immediately the anointing left king Saul that he ceased to be king. I am not being judgmental here, but that is the reality. This is what Solomon called "vanity upon vanity..."

Jesus Christ became poor so that we might be rich... Not rich in material things, but rich in good deeds. The Churches should set up a structural framework that will lift majority of their members out of poverty. This will be even more beneficial to all and sundry and will be in line with God's statutes. Can't imagine a pastor having 5 jets, till recently when 2 was sold. The cost of 1 jet will lift thousands out of poverty.

Christians this thing requires prayers that God should cleanse His Church. I hope we all know that God's words rightly said that judgement will start in the household of faith...Let everyone heed this injunction.
