Fear of Loosing Office: Governor Wada Refuses To Be Flown Abroad

Doctors at the hospital where Governor Idris Wada was receiving treatment on Saturday disclosed that he has rejected the option of flying him abroad for further treatment after undergoing what was described as inter-locking nail surgery on his thigh that was broken in the crash.

Contrary to expectation, Gov Wada has refused to be flown abroad for better treatment, against doctors advice. Those who are privy to the development said Wada is afraid because most of the governors who left the shores of Nigeria for medical reasons are yet to return to office.

Some say he may not have "enough trust" in his Deputy Governor to take over as Acting Governor, which would give him access to "sensitive and secret" government documents, hence he's claiming to be a strong man who can receive treatment anywhere.

A source who was at the hospital told Olufamous.com that the governor tries to shake hands with all those who visited him to create a false impression that he's ok to prevent any "political discussion in Kogi state".

Records indicated that the governor had suffered a broken thigh among other injuries when his vehicle ran into a ditch after a burst tyre on Friday afternoon at Emi Woro village, about 12 kilometers to Lokoja, the state capital.

Findings at the hospital indicated that the surgical procedure performed on Wada would enable him regain the use of the affected thigh with interlocking nails. But he needs special attention with medical equipment that are not available here.

The use of the interlocking nails procedure, according to medical experts, entails intramedullary pin secured in position by proximal and distal transfixing screws which engage the bone to the nail to provide axial bending and torsional stability.

You may wish to know that his ADC died on the spot while his driver reportedly escaped unhurt.

  2. He is going to be in pain for a long time! South Africas former President Nelson Mandela who is 96yrs old was treated and discharged frm a South African hospital. He did not have to fly abroad to receive treatment.
Former US president George Hubert Bush is being treated in Houston,USA for respiratory illness. Only in Nigeria r our leaders shipped out abroad for more treatment cos their corruption put their own life in jeopardy cos they refused to deploy funds for what it was meant for. They steal money and demoralise d workforce who r paid a pittance when they get their salary which is barely, cos they hardly even get paid.Abia state is owing salary arrears as I write! Shame on u fools.
