From all indications there is a genuine commitment on the part of the police authority to do justice in the case of the gruesome murder of four University of Port-Harcourt students by the people of Aluu community.
Nigerian Police Force has identified, caught and dismissed a Sergeant known as Lucky Orji, who was involved in the gruesome murder of the students, following the confessions of one of the arrested suspects who claimed that a police man was part of the mob.
The sergeant was dismissed for ordering the mob to kill the innocent students.
Mr. Frank Mba, the force Public Relations officer, named the dismissed Sergeant as Lucky Orji. He stated that the Nigerian Police Force has carried out their investigations and dismissed him accordingly.
According to Mr Mba, the Sergeant is among the 13 persons to be charged to court on Wednesday.
The dismissed police officer and another officer were alleged to have stumbled upon the angry mob beating the students, Mba said. “The officers were not even sent to the scene, he went on his own, outside the code of conduct and professional ethics of the job. One was professional to ask the mob to stop and the other asked them to continue,” the force PRO added.
He said the fact that the police is prepared to prosecute the officer, is a measure of its resolve to put an end to all forms of impunity in the Nigerian Police.

The policeman is the killer as the people actualy took his order, pls justice must be done to him first b4 any other thing

ReplyDeleteI commend the police for its commitment to ensure that justice is done. If the Sergeant had tried to stop the mob like the other policeman, those boys would have been alive today. The 'professional' one should have put that professionalism in use by arresting this unprofessional one on the spot. He could had called the Station Officer immediately to send men to rescue the boys. Therefore, he too is culpable due to his dereliction of duty. Both should be tried along.

ReplyDeleteThings are really happening with children of nowadays our own youth days are not like this we have fear and always put into consideration that we might be caught. But most of them now are leaving a carefree live, i dont care whatever it is, its not my conern. I just pity their parents because is not easy at all to loss grown up children like that. ReplyDeleteSgt Lucky needs to be charged to court as a police officer and in uniform if Nigeria Police Force want to do justice to the 4 students killed. Why taking Sgt Lucky to court as a civilian when he committed his offence in uniform.

DeleteWell everybody is now against that innocent police.That police man does not deserve this type of persecution.Remember that that Nigerian polices are so corrupt that even though they caught arm robbers.They will collect bribe and set them free.Me and you are always blame Nigerian police for their privilege offering to arm robbers in their activities.We also complaining of inadequate protection been given to Nigerian citizens by police of Nigeria.We are often saying that juggle justice is the ultimate in the mention of thieves been apprehended, as police of our country will never brought them to justice when the matter got to them. Me and you know that they value bribe more than someone's life. so just don't judge this other police man wrongly cos he ordered them to beat them up. According to the news i heard so far. He did not ask them to kill them but he joined them to beat them as the mob told he that they were armed.While some minutes after beaten them he joined his co police in begging them to release the four student to them so they could take them to police station but the angry mob refused as they were busy saying they must die,they must die. Then the police guys left the scene as they have no gun to scare the crowed. I will end my story here now but my justice is going to the debtor who called the vigilantes and lay allegation upon those boys as thieves .That man should be hanged that's all,as for the vigilantes no one told them that those boys are not arm robbers as one of the boys had gun and were also shooting up to clear his way of escape. So the debtor should BE CHRGED AND BE KILLED. THN EVERY OTHER PERSON FREE THAT'S MY OPINION

Even if the 4 students were Armed robbers , once the police got to the scene , the people of the community supposed to hand them over to the men in uniform. Don't take the law into your hands. All the people involved are animals.
