NDLEA Arrests Lagos Businessman With Drugs At MMA

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 41-year-old Lagos businessman who is into tailoring and importation of clothes for smuggling 2.7kg of cocaine valued at N29 million into the country. The man (name withheld) was arrested on arrival from Brazil at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja.

"The suspect has made a confessional statement claiming ownership of the drug. He claimed the baron promised him N2 million, which he intends to use to import clothes from China,” Mitchell Ofoyeju, spokesman of the agency said in a statement.

The suspect would be charged to court after investigations.

UNILAG Is Now MAULAG As Senate Approves New Name

SSS Arrests Customs Comptroller For Providing Arms For Armed Robbers

Men of the State Security Service, SSS, on Tuesday arrested a Comptroller of Customs in Abuja for buying ammunitions over time from Niger State Police command. Mr. Jack Bot was arrested at the customs head office Wuse, Abuja.

The SSS had earlier arrested two police officers serving in Minna, Niger State capital, for their involvement in supplying arms and ammunition to armed robbers, and the information they provided led to the arrest of Mr. Bot.

62yrs Old Man Arrested For Raping 10yrs Old Nigerian Girl

Mr. John Osunade, a 62-year-old man has been remanded in prison custody by an Osogbo Magistrate’s Court for allegedly raping a 10-year-old girl (name withheld). The charge sheet read in court on Tuesday accused Mr. Osunade of perpetrating the act on May 27, 2012, at his residence in Tonkere village, Gbongan town in Osun State.

When his plea was taken, the accused pleaded not guilty to the one-count of rape. Police prosecutor, Inspector Elisha Olusegun, said the offence was punishable under Section 218 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Volume II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2003.
