The man at the center of a dirty bribery scandal rocking the House of Reps,
Hon. Farouk Lawan, is doing everything possible to defend his action. He has claimed that he collected the bribe but with the intent to use same as evidence against the oil cabal.
Investigations then commenced which established the truth of the matter. At this point a plot was hatched to entrap the chief bribe taker, which was the head of the committee, Farouk Lawan.
A camera concealed in a pen was handed over to Femi Otedola, CEO of Zenon Oil, who had a meeting with Farouk Lawan and negotiated a $3 Million dollar bribe with Otedola and he (Farouk Lawan) went ahead to collect a down payment of $600,000.
Lawan then kept quiet and concealed receipt of the money from all and sundry and after the report was released he approached Otedola to collect the balance of his money.
However, the House of Reps leadership is not buying his story because, according to them, he waited until he was exposed before making such claim and did not inform any principal officer of the House until the security services blew the lid of the deal.
Also, more details are emerging as to what transpired...

The whole saga began after the SSS got a tip that the House Adhoc Committee probing the Fuel Subsidy regime had been receiving bribes from different quarters to influence their report and embarrass the Goodluck Jonathan-led government.

However, when the scandal broke, Lawan in an attempt to turn the case against him approached members of the House's Committee on Narcotics and Financial Crimes to appeal to them to tender the money he collected on-camera as evidence of an attempt to bribe him, but the committee members refused to be used, claiming that they could only have agreed if he had come to them before the scandal blew open.
Meanwhile, Lawan's commitee members have expressed disappointment in the fact that he could collect such a huge sum without putting them in the picture.

You may wish to known that Hon. Farouk Lawan plans to contest for Kano State governor in 2015 and many believes he needs a financial war chest for the contest.
Hmm... could this be why Olusegun Obasanjo said there are thieves in the National Assembly?
Then he's a disgrace to himself and his supporters not the few Nigerians who still have their integrity. SHAME!!!
ReplyDeleteOlu you are in the spirit of the moment, Baba said it but people were criticising him... now the result is obvious for everyone to see.

Oh my goodness.Am completely disappointed.God please come to our aids. Now i strongly than ever belives Obasanjo's prophecy...He (OBJ) knows what he was telling Nigerians. With this revelations, really there is a strong case against the oil marketers and Farouk have inherited his crime as well.

ReplyDeleteSHAME! I'm disappointed in Lawan because he has built a reputation for himself and has now dented it. Wow! Naija I cry for our tomorrow.
ReplyDeletewhich reputation? he had none ever. we knew they were just hypocrites like Ndidi Elumelu then? fixers of Nigeria have not come dearie
DeleteIf the claim that MP Lawan took bribe is true, then both Mr. Otedola and the Honourable must be prosecuted. Otedola for offering bribe and Hon. Lawan for accepting it. But we need evidence pls. Post the video on youtube.
ReplyDeletewhich one is difficult for you to understand in this story or you are just set out to blindly defend this criminal? can't u see beyond your sentiments that you cannot set up a con man like Lawan? he asked for it as they always do but this time he walked into a trap. How would he have been caught without that simple game? A thief caught on palm wine tree is claiming that he went up to dress the gourd...LOL
DeleteThey have come again. I know that the federal government will get at Lawan and discredit his report. How come the bribe did not influence his submission? Why instigate Otedola to delibrately bribe him. This stinks to high heavens. Case closed like all others before it.
ReplyDeleteBa Matsala Farouk. Achigaba da kokari. You people forgive and forget it is a mistake please. Allow him to be cought for the second time. This setup is to forget about Jona scandal. We still day.

ReplyDeleteNigeria is finished with the involvement of Hon Faruk collecting bribe to exonerate some oil cabals from being sanctioned or prosecuted. No wonder GEJ did not take the report serious b/cos the house members have collected bribe to free some of the guilty ones. I remember when they were making empty noise calling on the petroleum minister to resign. Yet the president did not take them serious b/cos they are all thieves.
ReplyDeleteHow I wish the military will sack them and execute all of them.
Tell me how can Goodluck implement whatever resolution taken by the rep since they are guilty of corruption.
AM CONFUSE BY ALMIGHTY FAROUK LAWAN BRIBE. I LOVE AND TRUSTED FAROUK SINCE 1999. PDP GOVERNMENT THROUGH OTEDOLA HAS FINALLY GOT FAROUK HEAD AS THEY REQUESTED FOR BY FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.
