Obama Dares Nigerian Government Over Anti-Gay Bill

"The struggle to end discrimination against Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) persons is a global challenge, and one that is central to the United States’ commitment to promoting human rights," says President Barrack Obama on Tuesday while condemning moves by Nigeria and others to punish people who engage in same-sex affairs.

Below are excerpts from the President's Memo on the thorny issue...
The President and this Administration are dedicated to eliminating barriers to equality, fighting discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, and engaging LGBT communities across the country.

The Administration’s dedication to LGBT rights does not stop at our borders, as the President made clear at the United Nations in September of this year when he said: “no country should deny people their rights because of who they love, which is why we must stand up for the rights of gays and lesbians everywhere.”

Today (Tuesday Dec. 6), President Obama issued a Presidential memorandum that directs all federal agencies engaged abroad to ensure that U.S. diplomacy and foreign assistance promote and protect the human rights of LGBT persons.... And now, following an inter-agency process coordinated by the National Security Staff, this memorandum directs the first-ever U.S. government strategy dedicated to combating human rights abuses against LGBT persons abroad

Today’s memorandum applies to the Departments of State, the Treasury, Defense, Justice, Agriculture, Commerce, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Millennium Challenge Corporation, the Export-Import Bank, the United States Trade Representative, and such other agencies as the President may designate.

The memorandum directs agencies to:
* Combat the criminalization of LGBT status or conduct abroad.
* Protect vulnerable LGBT refugees and asylum seekers.
* Leverage foreign assistance to protect human rights and advance nondiscrimination.
* Ensure swift and meaningful U.S. responses to human rights abuses of LGBT persons abroad.
* Engage International Organizations in the fight against LGBT discrimination.
[And] report on progress.#

Already, there are strong indications that Nigeria and other (African) countries bent on punishing LGBT persons will soon come under heavy sanctions by America, Britain and their co-travelers on this 'dangerous' path... Lets hope our leaders have what it takes to withstand the coming heat and keep saying NO to this rubbish.

  9. My Brothers and Sisters, do you all see what poverty can do to a nation? Now, you imagine what poverty can do to a person. Would America threaten China or Russia with fire and brimstone? No my brothers. Our population is higher than that of Russia, but the rich and powerful nations of the world treat us like we are the Republic of Gambia or some small obscure island in the middle of the ocean. Anyway, they will soon find out that we are Africa's most populated country. We have set a prosperity target for ourselves. It's called Vision 20/20/20. Then, we too will be powerful and rich. No barger

  10. When we become powerful and rich, come the realization of Vision 20/20/20, no baga can talk to us anyhow again. No, not the American president or even the presidents of China or Russia. Not even the Prime Minister of Britain can talk anyhow to us again. Ah, Vision 20/20/20 go hard o. Chei! With all the bribery, fraud, corruption, today N1.6Trillion, tomorrow, N300Billion, the next day, N128Billion, day after that, N38Billion Police Pension Fund. These people are heartless. It takes some boldness to steal N38B, but a heart of solid rock to it from the Police. All these financial scandal considered, becoming rich and powerful is an illusion. So goes my dream of Vision 20/20/20. Let's just beg America to carry all these gay and lesbian people to their country. Whether it's to asylum o, low-income housing projects o, or even prison self, e no mata. They exhibit anti-cultural tendencies and therefore we can dash them to Oyinbo.

  11. Obama, Obama, you think am na. How man go put hin thing inside shit hole? Or how woman go begin rub her engine with another woman engine, then them go begin suck each other bobby? Obama, you think am na. That's not correct na. Abi, this Na the new world population control strategy be this? HIV/AIDS failed as a population control strategy because too many VIP's and their children became victims. Now, the use of condoms is a big control on world population growth. Taking it a notch higher is the encouragement of homosexual practices. How any man go enjoy strong long stick inside hin own yansh beats me hollow Mr Obama. To continue to encourage it, makes you an accomplice to this evil. God will judge every thought and every action. Why carry other people's sins on your own head just so they can call you a good presidio. On Judgement Day o, they will not be there. You will stand by yourself. No plea bargain in Heaven. There's enough evidence to arraign, try and convict everybody. Also, earthly titles are not acknowledged in Heaven. So, be careful Mr Obama. A word is enough for the wise.

  12. Individuals have the right on whatever the want to do on their sexuality and I see No reasons why the Nigeria government should interfere with anyone sexuality.
Because of the Nigerian culture, we presume that gay practising is Not good.
But because the world has changed so much in the past few year and EVERY body has their right (Human Right), then each individual can practice whatever they want.
