The Pension Reform Task Force have arrested no fewer than 32 public servants and private sector employees for swindling Federal Government retirees of about N67bn pnension funds.
The task force comprises of operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and Independent Corrupt Practices Commission and State Security Service, ICPC, picked up four former Permanent Secretaries and a former Director in the pension department, alongside 27 others for the fraud.

N12bn was found in the personal account of the former director alone. Another N4bn was found in the personal account of a former deputy director in the department, who has also been arrested by the task force.
The source disclosed that properties worth over N15bn and N36bn in cash had so far been recovered from the 33 suspects.
Recall that last month, the task force announced that it uncovered N151bn pension funds stolen by officials in the office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation.

ReplyDeleteThe problem with our judicial system is that, after the looted fund is recovered, the criminals will be set free without punishing them. If it is in a different country, they will be lucky with a life imprisonment. That is how it is suppossed to be even in Nigeria such that it will serve as deterent to others who want to commit similar offence.
