The corruption crisis in the aviation sector which led to the suspension Arik Air on Thursday has taken a new twist, Olufamous.com gathered.
These are not the best of times for the Mrs Stella Oduah, the Minister of Aviation as sources say the Presidency have instituted a probe into her alleged corrupt practices.
The probe, according to reliable Presidency sources, follows indications that some top government officials have allegedly been demanding extraneous cut in the stake of some airlines. Already, the the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other relevant agencies are said to have been set in motion to begin background work.
The source also said that the minister might be summoned for questioning on Monday. Sources close to Arik Air had alleged on Thursday that the Aviation minister demanded a 5 percent cut in the airline’s stake failing which she would be hostile.
The alleged involvement of the minister in questionalble requests is not the first in recent times. Investigation had revealed that a company she has interest in, SPG, was involved in the fuel subsidy scam which was uncovered by the House of Representatives Committee on fuel subsidy regime.
The Hon. Farouk Lawanled committee which indicted Oduah’s company said that some claims made by the company, among other indicted ones, “could not be verified as the depots into which they purportedly dischared the products could not confirm receipt.”

ReplyDeleteCorruption is so endemic in Nigeria's public service that if you're not among them it's like you're crazy. Which way Nigeria??

ReplyDeleteEdu.
Mrs Oduah was a known corrupt individual working as a front for various coRrupt politicians b4 she wa appointed minister. How can someone who has no financial stake in a business be asking for five percent stake? We r looking at millions of Dollars that will go into this womans pocket!
ReplyDeleteThe airline is grounded and if this situation continues, workers will be definitely be laid off. Nigerian families who depend on these workers will be left destitute and thrown under d bus, tertiary services that depend on d airline for income like restaurants and car hire services will loose business cos of this grounding. Passengers who paid their fares will be left stranded, and each day Arik planes r grounded they wiLl be losing millions of Dollars in lost revenues, so while govt loses revenues frm taxes and jobs,Mrs Oduah is interested in getting her five percentcut in a business she did not put money in,what a travesty! A British billionnaire who brought his airline businness into Nigeria was driven out of d country cos ministers and govt officiala were pestering this man for bribes! Why Do we have these type of ppl as our leaders?
Evidence of failed government.Corruption every where in the government and GEJ is acting like he don't know what's going on even when his wife is collecting salary as a ghost permanent secretary.Shame on this administration.Worst ever in history of the country.
ReplyDeleteWhen will they probe Alison MADueke?
