The Nigerian political space is set to experience a new level of engagement as President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday appointed Dr. Doyin Okupe as his Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs.
“I have resumed on Thursday as the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs. My duty is to engage the public, media and civil societies on matters and issues that are current and affect the Presidency.
"I will also provide avenue for proper dissemination of information,” Okupe said.
However, checks by Olufamous.com in Abuja indicated that top power brokers in the Presidency have serious reservations with the way Dr. Reuben Abati has been handling the president's public relations. They think Abati is more interested in "his good name" than tackling the President's opponents.
In recent times, ACN and CPC chieftains have been having a field day, bashing President Jonathan and his wife in the media without any "commensurate response", hence the decision to "sideline Abati and confine him to chatting with journalist until the president decides how to ease him out," a very credible source in the seat of power told Olufamous.com.
It would be recalled that the likes of Femi Fani-Kayode and Doyin Okupe were among the few men who helped shaped public perception of the Olusegun Obasanjo administration.

ReplyDeleteThe fact is dat wen Nigerians ar busy calling for reductions in many over blotted bureaucracies used in siphoning nig resource, the president is busy carving out another means where those monies will pass tru to their pockets. AM NOT SURPRISE. Wen u watch the ways Dr.DOYIN talked in defending of govt wicked and obnoxious policies and virtually anything dey do or say, a wise man will know he is looking for contract and appointment. e.g, Minister of information nd communication, Presidential spokesman, public affairs etc. What a shame. Pls tell me, who is Marku communicating to? who is Reuben speeking to? And lastly, who is Doyin also also addressing? Jentle
