I Did Not Collect Otedola's Bribe From Farouk -Hon. Jagaba

The naked dance between Farouk Lawan, the leadership of the House of Reps and all other parties involved in the $620,000 bribery saga, from what Olufamous.com observed, is getting messy and interesting by the day.

The Chairman of the House Committee on Narcotics and Financial Crimes, Hon. Adams Jagaba, has opened up on what actually transpired between himself and Farouk over the bribe the latter collected from Mr. Femi Otedola.

Farouk has not been able to put the complete bribe money he collected together, fuelling suspicion he might have spent a large part of it for "personal comfort". But in a bid to rope the leadership of the House into the saga, Olufamous.com gathered that Farouk told Police investigators that he gave the bribe to Hon. Jagaba, whose committee oversees the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

However, Jagaba, on June 19, 2012, wrote a letter to the Speaker of the House, Mr. Aminu Tambuwal, denying any deal with Farouk and that he never received any "exhibit" money, whatsoever.

I wish to categorically and unequivocally state that there was never a time I was in possession of the sum of $620,000 or any other exhibits (in my personal capacity or official capacity) relating to the subject matter of the above investigation.

I hope this explanation lays to rest once and for all the claims that I or my committee is in possession of the sum of $620,000 purportedly given as bribe to the Ad-Hoc Committee on Monitoring of Fuel Subsidy Regime,” Jagaba's letter read in part.

As it stands now, the Police is almost left with no better option than to begin criminal proceedings against Farouk and some members of the Ad-Hoc that have been found culpable.

  1. Farouk should not allow Nigerians who still have a little love him to start condemining him totally. Bring out the money or speak the truth if you've spent it.
