Presidency Lambasts #Farouk For Collecting Bribe

“You will agree with me that nobody from the executive directed or instructed or accompanied the ad-hoc committee chairman to Otedola’s house by 3am to collect money. So, I urge the Nigerian public to see things dispassionately on their merit and not push blame always to the presidency”.

The Presidency has lambasted the embattled Chairman of the House of Reps Ad-hoc Committee on Fuel Subsidy, Farouk Lawan, for demanding and collection bribe in the course of his duty.

Briefing journalists in Abuja on Friday, Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Ahmed Ali Gulak, noted that the House of Representatives had conducted its probe on the fuel subsidy regime and forwarded the report to the executive, saying the president has directed the relevant agencies to look at the document.

Olufamous.com gathered that Gulak lambasted Farouk for his greed, saying “the head of the ad-hoc committee (Farouk Lawan) compromised himself by demanding and receiving bribe to the tune of $620,000...it is in the public domain and there was confession to that effect.”

Gulak also condemned move by some interested parties in the matter to accuse the presidency for the entrapment of Farouk in the bribery saga. “It is sad because the president has nothing to do with the House of Representatives and it is not in the habit of Mr. President to interfere in what goes on at the National Assembly," Gulak said.

  1. Farouk is not only greedy but foolish. Even if u want to collect money u should have done so at a neutral ground. Comrade Chris

  3. If we agree that there is no smoke without fire then the Presidency can not truly wash its hands off the matter. Somebody high up don't want that report to see the light of day and Farouk stupidly played into their trap.

  5. Nobody set Farouk up.He's a thief that was cought. This is what is going on in 9ja with most of the politicians as they are in postion to enrich themselves without the interest of the common people. Its only God that will save the country from these crooks/politicians.

  6. All these politicians will not rest until they see common men on their knees begging for food. Soon they will realize that hungry men are angry men when the revolution will hit them. Let them remember Mubarak, Gaddafi et al FRANK

  7. Nigeria as a nation has one simple problem. To have a good law and implement it.An example of law was what happened in Malaysia last week.A government portfolio secretary took bribe of 10million naira 3 years ago and was arrested. No bail was giving until proven guilty last week.He was on hand cuff.He was jailed 13 years and fine of 100million naira.Malaysia law says that the person will pay 10 times the money he took for bribe.Do you think that any nation will become as bad as Nigeria if they have such law?.When people ask why other countries are doing well.Check their law and implementation.Farouk agreed he took money and Nigerian government let him to move around. Why will others not loot?.Even Ghana is better than Nigeria and finding a way to tell Nigerians to leave their country. It's a shame that Jonathan is a product of pdp.Let Nigerians take their fate in their hands and they will see result. The solution is rallys and protest everyday to change Nigeria law for best.People should dictate what they want and if government kill them, international communities will be involve.

  10. The president's fault is not to have ensured that as the chief executive(whome IG of police and AGF are answerable to)he ought to ensure that the relevant security agencies prosecute Farouk Lawan. Why should he keep quit when the Police is saying the lack enough evidence to prosecute Lawan?
