A 43-year-old muslim Imam at Educational Legacy College’s Mosque in Ibadan, Oyo State, Isiaka Salimonu has been arrested for raping a 15-year-old girl, simply identified as Yetunde.
Olufamous.com gathered that the Iman, whose daughter and Yetunde are classmates, had been wooing the innocent girl for the past 10 months without success.
Imam Isiaka, who has been detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Ibadan, was said to have promised to give Yetunde a special oil for prayers to improve her academic performance. It was when she went to the Mosque to collect the said 'special oil' from him that he pounced on the victim and raped her.
On getting home, Yetunde reported the matter to her elder brother who immediately reported the matter at the Olodo Police Station, while her father took her to a nearby hospital where it was confirmed that she was actually raped.
During interrogation, Olufamous.com gathered that Imam Isiaka confessed to the crime. The state’s police spokesperson, Femi Okanlawon also confirmed that the suspect has confessed. He added that the Iman would soon be charged to court for rape.

But if afterall we learn dt trully it hapened there, then dat fornicator should be taken 2 sharia court on three count charges; that is,raping a 15yrs old girl, fornicating and using muslims place of worship(mosque) as venue 4 commiting adultery. ReplyDeleteMost commentators here are typical Nigerians. We enjoy complaining & judging. Alas, we are not ready to do the right thing. yet, we want the right thing. The punishment for this act under Shariah is death. If this is carried out now, you will still see comments like Muslims are barbaric, Islam is bad, No Shariah, etc.. So, we don't really know what we want. The punishment for rape in Nigeria is 7 or 14 years imprisonment, will the victim forget the incidence within 7 or 14 yrs ? This is the kind of society you get when God's law is too HARSH for us to follow. Yet, we will still want to go to that God's paradise.
